Whole Foods Market Shoppers Donate $1.8 Million to Empower the Poor !

Each year, Whole Foods Market shoppers have the opportunity to donate at the registers and empower the poor through microcredit during the annual campaign. This year, our goal was to raise $1 million and you donated $1.8 million - wow! Thanks to you, Whole Planet Foundation will now be able to reach impoverished communities in South America that supply Whole Foods Market stores with product. Last year, your donations enabled Whole Planet Foundation to fund microlending projects in Africa, supporting the very poor in Kenya and Ethiopia where Whole Foods Market sources coffee. Thank you for your generosity!

    Eating Well Food Drive

    1:00pm

The number of people relying on food from a charitable source in Los Angeles has increased by about 31% from 2008 to 2009. In Glendale, that number is about 40%. According to the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank, this is greatly related to the rising unemployment level, and faltering economy. There have also been proposed cuts to government aided food assistance programs.

Because food is in such high demand, The Eating Well Foundation would never turn down a quality food donation. However, they do try to emphasize gathering "healthier" foods. This means natural, organic, and whole grain foods. Come by on this very special day and show your generous spirit by donating whatever items you can! They really do make a difference!
