    11am-2pm $10 Donation

     Handcrafted bowls designed by local artists are available for a $10 donation. Also included is a light lunch of soup and bread donated by Whole Foods Market Tempe.   Proceeds will benefit the United Food Bank and Tempe Community Action Agency.  For more information go to www.tempeaction.org or www.unitedfoodbank.org. The event on Friday will be held at 6th Street Park (just south of City Hall in Downtown Tempe). Saturday's event will be held in the courtyard is nestled between Tempe Public Library and Vihel Center buildings.

    Whole Foods Market in Tempe has partnered with the Tempe Leadership Class XXV to raise funds for "Shower Power". This unique and highly local project is working to raise funds to provide Interfaith Homeless Emergency Lodging Program (I-HELP) with a mobile shower for the working homeless in the East Valley. 5% of our store sales on this day will go towards this project. Shop this day to help the less fortunate.

Alaffia Sustainable Skin Care is collecting used eyeglasses to distribute to needy individuals in Togo, West Africa.

The Situation
The World Health Organization estimates the use of corrective lenses could improve the eyesight of one-fourth of the world's population. There are very few optometrists in Togo. An eye exam costs as much as one month’s wages and a pair of glasses can cost up to four months income.

The Facts
Over 1 billion people in developing countries need eyeglasses but cannot afford them. Over 4 million pairs of eyeglasses are thrown away each year in North America. 25% of the global population needs glasses. 50% of children in institutions for the blind in Africa would be able to read if they had eyeglasses. Give them Sight!
