5% Day Success!

We had a wonderfully sucessful 5% day with local elementary schools. We were able to raise $4107.60 for three local schools. Vienna Elementary, Cunningham Park Elementary and Marshall Road Elementary did a wonderful job bringing out the shoppers. It was a great day in the store and we can't wait to see the great things ideas that the schools have for the money. We can't wait to do it again soon!

Planet Green's Emeril Lagasse Wants to Help Solve the Cooking Challenges of Metro D.C. Area Residents

Planet Green is looking for residents in the Washington, D.C. metro area who love to cook but have a tough time making heads or tails of what's in the fridge, or are wondering how to be eco-friendly while still deep frying a turkey.

This is a chance for amateur chefs to receive cooking tips and recipes tailored specifically to their needs by America's most beloved chef — Emeril Lagasse! Discovery's new network is currently casting enthusiastic and fun people with creative and interesting cooking challenges for the all new series EMERIL GREEN, which will begin airing in July.

Metro D.C. residents interested in participating should email their information (name, address, age and occupation), their culinary challenge and a recent picture to foodshowcasting@gmail.com today. Participants must provide their own transportation and be available for 2-3 days of filming in the D.C. metro area.

We have supported local growers and producers since 1980. Buying local means supporting local communities, jobs, independent farmers and producers; it also reduces the distance from farm to plate, and lets you stay connected to the seasons. This summer we will highlight LOCAL in every department; from local flowers to coffee, honey, cheese, pies, and more! We hope you will stop by and help us support our local growers.

Our Community 5% Days are one meaningful way we give back to our community. On designated days throughout the year a total of 5% of the day's net sales are donated to local non-profit organizations. Customers help support our selected organizations just by shopping on these 5% Days.
