I like cherries in a salad of fresh greens with raspberry dressing. I change it up and sometimes add feta cheese or something crunchy like candied pecans or thinly slice almonds.

Sweet Cherries right out of the bag is just delish! So is on Coconut Milk vanilla ice cream. Cherry cobbler & pie are very good! But the fastest way to get cherries to the mouth is... right out of the bag.

As a kid, I never thought I liked cherries. Not in pie, not in breads or sweets, certainly not as an artificial flavoring in anything at all! And then I tasted fresh cherries for the first time. Lord have mercy! I LOVE cherries -- fresh, straight, and unadulterated. And my kids do, too.

I love cherries, all varieties. But I must admit I never grew out of my Shirley Temple phase. I have been inspired by these sugary sweet drinks to make other variations with better ingredients. Cherry Sweet Tea, Cherry Lemonade, Cherry-Mint Juleps. Now I'm thirsty.

Good things come to those who wait -- for a new crop of fresh cherries, that is! I love them and eat them till my fingers are stained dark red! Wonderful just as they are -- they have a distinct taste unlike any other fruit. Love them with dark chocolate or mixed in with organic real vanilla ice cream. They are so versatile. They can be used in appetizers, the main course, and desserts -- for breakfast, lunch or dinner or snacks. And writing about them makes me want some right now!

Cherry season always brings back a childhood memory of going to the Traverse City Cherry Festival after we'd spent the prior day picking cherries to take home for jams, pies, cobblers and to freeze. As we walked through all the booths at the festival we'd always find a new way to try them, some were worth keeping some were not. Besides eating them as we picked, I'd have to say my favorite way to enjoy them though was in our homemade cherry ice cream on top of a mom's cherry, rhubarb cobbler. Man-O-Man that memory makes my mouth water!
