Of course, you have to have peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (some with gluten free bread!). They don't go bad in the heat and what kid does not like PB&J! Throw some fresh fruit and water in the cooler, and a giant bag of chips, and life's a beach!

For an outing to the beach, my family enjoy bringing homemade pasta salads (organic, of course). Of snacks, toasted nuts and fruit leathers are favorites. Sweet tea and water are also a must. Oh, there are always a thermos of cold milk and a zip-lock bag of cinnamon oatmeal cookies.

I love going to the beach, but I rarely get the chance, so when I finally get to go I never want to leave. I take plenty of sunscreen, water, and fresh fruit and veggies to stay hydrated and safe while enjoying the sun.

The things that I like to consider when taking food outdoors are how it will stand up in the sun or away from a fridge or freezer. I also like to bring things that are easily portable, pack well and don't require a lot of dishes/flatware if any. Thirdly, I consider the impact it will have on the environment - will it attract (the wrong) animals/bugs; will it disturb nature if I spill it or forget it; does it come with wrappers that can escape me and choke or irritate the wildlife? Certainly, a trip to the beach calls for a lot of water. I like to put frozen fruit in my bottles to make even frostier and add a little flavor. Plus, the frozen fruit is great to eat on their own. I also enjoy peanutbutter sandwiches or veggie wraps. They are easy to eat, don't require any plates or flatware and give you great energy.

I like taking BumbleBars and Coconut Water (preferably Blue Monkey brand) to the beach. The individually wrapped BumbleBars are easy to manage while the coconut water rehydrates naturally. I can almost feel the sand between my toes already. Thanks!

I have the beach to my west and lakes to my east, so I love both! Summer by the water always requires fresh, cold fruit especially watermelon, grapes, white nectarines, and strawberries. If the grill is fired up, zucchini and summer squash is a must along with sausages and burgers.

Living on Florida's Gulf Coast, beach is just part of our every day lives as well as long days lounging by the pool. Fresh fruits like grapes, watermelon, and bananas are perfect to cool us off in these 95 degree days. Couple them with water flavored with lemons and limes as well as something crunchy (banana chips or pretzels) and you have a perfect beach picnic or poolside snack.
