My go-to is homemade Chex mix - I customize it with different nuts and pretzels, and use way too much butter and seasoning... it tastes nothing like the stuff you buy in the bags, it's so much tastier!

Phoenix says …

Fresh watermelon & any kind of summer fruit from local farms.

Cas says …

Jalepeno cheese bread with garlic butter, organic fruit salad, brie cheese with fig preserves on Raincoast crackers, truffles, popcorn with nutritional yeast, hummus with naan, prepared ahead of time and frozen margaritas, rolled up tortillas with cream cheese, cucumber and sliced thin turkey spread with chipolte mayonnaise, and guacamole with pita chips and sliced vegies, and of course organic as much as possible.

The yummy go-to snacks I like to have at my parties are pita chips with hummus dip, cheese & crackers, grapes, and sliced tomatoes topped with sliced mozzarella cheese.

Kerri says …

Pita chips and the hummus quartet, some goat cheese, chocolate covered peanut butter filled pretzels.

A favorite of friends and family: I top a block of neufchâtel cheese (low-fat cream cheese) with Whole Foods jalepeno cilantro pesto sauce and serve with crackers or pita chips. It's absolutely easy and delicious!

Rhea says …

I put out whole grain tortilla chips with a fire roasted corn salsa - friends loved it! Whole grain crackers and three varieties of cheese were available as well. To liven up the party platters, I used a few colorful paper umbrellas (like you see in tropical drinks). Then red, white and rose wines, plus iced green tea, put everyone in a party mood! We didn't eat lunch until 3 PM because everyone was so into the snacks and wine. Party on!!!

I love to have a variety of cheeses - like an international cheese tray featuring cheeses from at least 5 different places. Along with some breadsticks and olive-oil-and-rosemary glazed baguette. Also some blue cheese filled olives and mini caprese on a skewer. For dessert I like to have fruits with cream cheese and chocolate sauce. All paired with all sorts of wine.

We always theme our parties. The last one was southern progressive dinner with Bourbon sweet tea, cheese straws, pulled pork and corn muffins. Delish!

At parties, I love to have a lot of different snacks stationed at different areas in my home. There's always different kinds of breads, with extra virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar, olives, sun dried tomatoes, artichokes, etc. and different sea salts and pepper. Cheese is great for parties. I love using the Water Wheel Fine Wafer Crackers, with 5 different cheeses, along with grapes and/or fresh figs. I make mini chocolate chip cookies and those are a hit with the little and big kids. We have kettle and pita chips with hummus and my husband's signature eggplant and bean dip. Need some sort of deli meat, such as prosciutto and salamis, and depending what I'm in the mood for, I'll serve fresh vegetables or roasted vegetables. Oh and of course, fresh fruit, cut up beautifully. :)

jean says …

cheese and crackers! :)

Kristy says …

The guests are the most important part of the party, but great food can't hurt. I love a good spread of cheeses, fruits, vegetables, foods that can be eaten easily with one hand and one or two bites. Good wine and stemware from which to drink it is also a must.

My favorite party time snacks are "any-Ranch vehicle". Whether it is a chip, pretzel, carrot, cauliflower, french fry, or my finger, it is all just a vehicle for Ranch.

my go to party snack is seven layer dip. it can be made very healthy and is easy to make and can be stored very easily as well. it is always a great party hit and most of the time i don't have any leftovers. what makes my party excellent is the food, the people, the conversation, and the music.

Jen K. says …

Parties are all about friends. Theme? Doesn't matter. Good friends, good drinks, and good food make me happy!

colin Rice says …

A good party has to have great wine selection (anything from Whole Foods) and great, healthful food. I'm a fan of any raw vegetable cut into bite size pieces with some homemade dip such as a hummus or black bean concoction!

Carmen says …

spinach dip bread bowl!

I love having bruscetta, so the evoo and balsamic vinegar would come in handy. I would make vegan spinach dip for the crackers and probably some edamame hummus too!

Hungry Bill says …

Christina says …

I love to have bruschetta for my guests - fresh tomatoes, basil and a little olive oil on toasted baguette. Also fresh fruit and veggies with fun dipping sauces.

Lots of different types of bruschetta, anything with parmigiano reggiano... Fresh pico de gallo and guacamole. Sangria and vino of course.

I love trying out whatever's in the odd and ends cheese bin at Whole Foods. We've sampled some things we might not have ever tried otherwise. A recent favorite is a goat gouda. Yum!

Great food, great music and great people makes my party time excellent and fun.

Anytime I have a party coming up, whether hosting or attending, I know that all I have to do is hit up the wine and cheese sections of my local Whole Foods. Everyone loves cheese! They even have alternatives for my vegan friends..and the friendly staff always know the best combinations so I look so smart when I show up with the perfectly paired snacks and beverages. I could probably live in the cheese section if they allowed it, but then I would miss the parties :)

Scott says …

Best summer party dish is homemade organic salad with corn, avocado, cherry tomatoes, green onion, black beans, oil, and pepper. Best winter dish is homemade organic pumpkin hummus, always a hit!

Lindsay says …

Fresh bread with oil and vinegar, hummas and chips, and toffuti with crackers and slices of apple!

FatTomato says …

crackers and chips n' dips and fruit kebabs

Amanda says …

No party can be complete without my must-haves: 1) Handful of close friends 2)Prosciutto wrapped jalapenos stuffed w/ goat cheese 3) All-or-nothing guacamole w/ pomegranate seeds 4) Mimosas w/ champagne and blood orange juice 5) Bruschetta w/ pork belly and quail eggs. With these things combined, any event is a success! I could definitely use some extra ingredients though. Perhaps some olives, crackers and vinegar. ;)

Stephen Schaf says …

Get outside. It's summer. Cool drink concoctions keep the heat at bay. Iced fresh, organic fruit (even mangos, papayas and guava) make great natural snacks for keeping cronies cool and happy. Fire up the grill. Decorate festively and take it into the evening when temps drop a little. I always play lawn games with fresh sangria to keep the competition at bay. Kids love being outside, too. Win-win.
