My girlfriend Julie makes me original Valentine's Day cards out of scrap booking paper and goes out of her way to make each and every gift special. Each gift is well thought out and is something that I need. She shows an interest in my hobbies and is willing to take one for the team by going to some unique concerts at unique venues. Julie makes me special meals that are completely original and wears her heart on her sleeve. I would not be where I am today without all her love and support.

My husband has stuck by my side for almost 18 years, now! He is a great husband, good provider, and a wonderful father! I love him dearly!

My mother, now 82 years old,is the dearest, most patient, kind and gentle woman I have ever known. She continues to do volunteer work at a local hospital, even though she is often in pain as she has rather severe problem areas in her back and knee. She has always been there for my sister, brother and me. She sets a fine example as she treats everyone she knows with lovingkindness. I believe she very much deserves to win the contest. Thank you for your consideration.

My boyfriend is my valentine. He loves me for who I am and he always sees my potential and beauty even when I can't. He did not mind one bit driving on ice to get me something from the store that I needed. I love him!!

My husband is the most amazing father. After chaperoning my 2nd grade daughter's all day field trip, he took both our daughters to the Daddy/Daughter Dance that night. Plus they went out for pie afterwards! He has been my Valentine for the past 15 years, & I look forward to many more Valentine's together!

My mother goes above and beyond EVERY chance that she gets for me and for my family. She comes to our house every morning before going to work just to see her grandsons and share breakfast stories and treats with them before they head off to school for the day.

My Pookie is the best valentine ever and deserves this gift basket. He's not perfect of course, and tends to slack on chores, but he tries his hardest and always comes through!

My husband is certainly my valentine- and has been for the last seven years. This year our baby is definitely making this valentines that much more special. If it were possible- I love him more now. Watching him with our son is so unbelievably amazing! He went from nervous and scared to a song-singing, diaper-changing, kids-station-radio-listening, overprotective DAD! He also, not to brag, does the dishes and laundry (including the piles of cloth diapers every other day!), and the garbage and snow shoveling- ALL after work! He eats all my crazy recipes- often made up, and always vegetarian even though he is not! The best thing is not that we don't have our fights, but that he is ready in literally seconds to put it all behind us and hug and continue chatting :) I love him!! (and he loves chocolate- so i would love to give him this basket:)

Everyday is like Valentines day for me because I get to spend everyday with the loveliest person, he is my sunshine on gloomy days. Valentines Day is going to be special because we get to celebrate our everlasting love. Never been happier!

I have two Valentines in my life. But the one I'd like to comment on is my 5 year old daughter. I can't say enough about how much I love that little girl. With out her, chocolate isn't sweet and flowers have no scent. Words have no meaning and my heart is empty. What would Valentine's day be without those things? She is my everything especially right now while we go through the most difficult of times I've experiecened yet. I just wish she could understand what she means to me. Happy Valentine's Day everyone.

My Valentine looks into my soul and knows when to help and when to breathe. Supports me with a hug, a gesture, a look. Sitting in silence while talking out loud. Allows the laughter and the fun to arise along with the challenges and the difficulties to learn from and grow from. Thank you my Valentine I give the same to you.

Vday, past two years I did experience this being cherished and given a romantic dinner and a getaway. Now this year, I plan to enjoy it as a single lady possibly go into the city and enjoy the views with good friends! Girlfriends! are very important!!! I wouldn't have made it thru this past year without one of my girlfriend, whom I have spent my time doing yogas, dinners, brunches, movie nights, shopping, and fun night out! I would love to give back by giving her things she love, chocolates, flowers, and healthy food! :)

My grandmother taught me what love means, and she will always be my Valentine! Even though her life was so tough, she is the epitome of generosity and love. When I would get sick growing up, she would take care of me and say, "If I could get sick for you, I would..."

My mother and grandmother. On October 23, 1996 my mother's life long partner in crime passed away to cancer a week after my brother's birthday. My father was only 47 years old when he passed away from stage 4 Lung cancer that had rapidly developed. He went through one treatment of Chemo and Radiation, when they realized it would harm him more then anything. Within 6 weeks of diagnoses from around Mid-August my father passed away. Every year I know how special Valentine's Day is to everyone and the two most important influential people in my life happen to be my mother and grandmother. Since my father's passing when I was 11 I've taken the time to make my mother and grandmother a four - six course meal. Starting with appetizers, main course, side dishes and desserts. This year will be the 14th Valentine's Day my mother hasn't been able to spend with her husband. It is my goal on this holiday to try and fill a void she is filling, though I know I can't do that. With your help I can give my mother a lavish Valentine's Day dinner, one she and my grandmother whose 85 years old, I don't know how much longer she will be alive, but I do know this will one they remember because I was able to pay for it all myself.

My husband is my best friend. He cries with me, laughs at me and with me. He keeps me grounded and focused on bad days when i can not seem to get it together. He never asks for anything, me loving him always seems to be enough. Some days i want him to know how very special he is to me.

My valentines are my sweetie, my nephews, my sister and my Mom. It's all about love that isn't conditional, that doesn't depend on what you say or what you do. It's love that goes beyond and speaks only in words of the heart. Silent and all-encompassing, this is a love you can take comfort in, nestle in, feel you are home. And to give it back as well is the ultimate gift.

Lisa says …

My kids are my valentines. This year we are going to spend the entire weekend celebrating our time together and the love we have for each other.

Cyndi says …

My husband is my St. Valentine!! He loves me more than I love myself...he's given so much to the people around him. He's an endless cup of love. His kindness is selfless and genuine, straight from the heart. From taking care of the kids to his mother-in-law and the pets, cooking, and Mr. Fix-it...to the school and extra curricular activies and children's support, he's a real life Cupid on this side of heaven!

Shelly Coulter says …

My valentine is special because he is a wonderful husband and father.

Michael Curtin says …

What makes my valentines day so special is my wonderful fiancee :)! She always goes out of her way to make it perfectly romantic. Despite my dietary limitations she always does and makes something special. Flowers, candles, cards, even amazingly delicious flourless cakes! Dinner, we like to cook together <3, though on valentines she likes to surprise me :D! She always strives to get me a special gift on every holiday. I feel bad, because i can't always do the same with my mobility. I try really hard to do the same! She makes everything and every moment special. She will forever be the best thing about valentines day!!!

my boyfriend of 4 years is my valentine, and he understands that valentine's day doesn't occur 1 day a year, but every day...it's the little things that matter, and the one you love needs to be appreciated all the time. :-)

My best friend, husband, and fellow foodie is my valentine and is special because he cares about my health, loves me for who I am, and loves to make me smile. He goes out of his way to make sure I have sweets and chocolates that I can eat, as I have a dairy allergy and it makes eating the yummy stuff challenging. He takes me to Whole Foods 3 hours from our home to buy dairy free cheese so I can make pizza and enchiladas. He is so wonderful! :) Love him because he is seriously phenomenal!

Maryann says …

My Valentine is special because she has endured health issues head on and still been the most loving and supportive wife and mother any man could ask for. She is committed to feeding or family healthy so that we live long and healthy lives and she does it all with love and strength.

My husband is my Valentine! He moved all the way to Indianapolis with me so I could have a good job! He even unpacked the kitchen for me :)

Sharon Rutherford says …

My Valentine is my loving husband of 36 years. He has been by my side through thick and thin and with God's blessings and good healthy food from Whole Foods he will be by my side for many more years. I have been shopping at Whole Foods for many years now and this basket of LOVE would be a sweet addition to the healthy foods I prepare for him.

My Fiancee is the best. We were engaged a year ago from Valentines day and are getting married this July. He is the kindest and most loving person to me.

Christy says …

My Valentine is special because he does a lot for our family and never complains or expects praise (I of course give it to him anyway :)); in fact, he does things to show his appreciation for us all the time :)

Sherrie Andress says …

My husband married me in 1985 with my son and accepted his role as his father, we have been married 25--going on 26 years now and he puts up with my Lucy Ricardo weirdness and I am so grateful that he has accepted me this way cause I am a very trying person but he has gotten many free rides from me(i.e. eating out, movies, trips and such cause I have won them for us) so I have helped us to get by in this world and he has made me happy for it. This to me is what makes him special as my valentine sweetheart.

Charlene Cummings says …

I have a true romantic! For Christmas he did the twelve days of Chrismas theme wherein I had a gift to open everyday with the last being Christmas day. My gift that day was an engagement ring. He spoils me. When he sees I need something, he gets it. He supports my healthy lifestyle which includes shopping for me. As there is not Whole Foods where I live, he frequently stops by the store in Houston. He calls me when he gets there to ask what I need or want. I don't even have to ask, he just does it. He is my best friend and we have a lot of respect and admiration for each other. He loves who I am, as I am. He brings out the best in me.

The special thing about my valentine is that he is always helping everyone he can.

I will be having a girls night, with my newly divorced sister and my two sweet little nieces. It has been a very hard year for her, newly divorced and this week she had to file for bandrupcy, so I am having them over for a girlie night, of toes painting and sweet treats! This basket could be our sweet treats!!!!!!

Tara says …

My hubby took me to a fancy restaurant on our first v-day together and choked down all kinds of raw shellfish just to impress me (he hates oysters, clams...). when I found out how miserable he'd been through dinner, and how hungry he still was I made him a frozen pizza at home and he couldn't have been happier. He continues to go outside of his comfort area to indulge my culinary curiosity, and I love him for it.

My mom is my Valentine! She suffered a massive stroke as the result of a car accident. Mom kept her lovely personality and cute humor even after being left with some brain damage. She has worked with therapists to defy the odds and can walk, play the piano and even climb the stairs to my home now for Sunday dinner. Mom was my inspiration for starting my own small business this year. She has shown me that you can do anything you REALLY want to. Lots of love and adoration from our friends have also encouraged us both. We enjoy every day that we are able to spend together. I love my mom, my valentine!

What makes my valentines so special? I'll tell you exactly what does. My husband who loves me unconditionally, and will be by side for the rest of my life, and my beautiful daughter who has taught me more about love than anyone. I can't wait to welcome another beatiful baby girl in April, she is also making this valentines very special!

Kate says …

My Valentine is my lovely husband and partner in all things. He's a smart, dedicated Dad and husband - and overall care-taker. After a tough year of lay-offs and illness, he's my one-man clean-up crew. He lifts our spirits with his enthusiasm for life and good old fashion fun! And, he's my co-conspirator in revamping our family meal planning so that we're all-organic and (nearly) vegan. It keeps us bright, alert and excited about spending time in the kitchen!
