Theresa Boerst - Associate Store Team Leader
- What does your job title mean?
I assist the Store Team Leader in all financial, operational and Team Member Development aspects of our store. My ultimate goal is to become a Store Team Leader.
- What's been your career path to Whole Foods Market?
I worked for a competitor in Pennsylvania for 10 years. During that time I was a Department Manager in the Prepared Foods, Seafood, Deli and Cheese departments. When I moved to Memphis, I started at Whole Foods Market as an Associate Seafood Team Leader in 2008. I was then promoted to Specialty Team Leader and have been in my current store leadership position for 3 years.
- A Day in the Life
In addition to trainings, meetings and financial responsibilities, I usually start each day walking the entire store. I check in with teams to ensure operational excellence is being met and assist with any issues that pop up. Each day is different, but talking to and taking care of customers and Team Members is the biggest part of my day.
- A Recent, Memorable Day
We opened our new store, Poplar Avenue, in January. It was incredibly fulfilling to see the excitement of new and loyal customers visiting the new store for the first time, and to witness the pride in our Team Members who were (and still are) working so hard to satisfy our Memphis customers.
- What gets you up in the morning?
Knowing that I can make a difference every day, whether it’s a great shopping experience for our customers, or helping our team members grow and develop in their position.
- What do you like most about working at Whole Foods Market, and what advice do you have for people considering joining the Whole Foods Market team?
I really enjoy the relationships that I have made with my co-workers and customers alike. I work with caring, passionate and reliable people who love their jobs and their customers. It is also amazing to be a part of a mission-driven company that cares about its Team Members and is actively making a difference in our community. It's a great company to work for and if given the opportunity, you would not regret joining the Whole Foods Market family.
