Whole Kids Foundation
Whole Kids Foundation is dedicated to helping kids eat better—and enjoy it!
Founded by Whole Foods Market, the nonprofit organization is guided by the same values, principles, expertise and standards for quality ingredients, food production methods and nutrition.
Whole Kids Foundation’s mission is to inspire families and support schools to improve children’s nutrition and wellness. This is accomplished through a range of innovative partnerships and programs, including:
Healthy Fun for Families
Whole Kids Foundation provides free resources and activities for families, including hands-on crafts, book recommendations and easy recipes – plus the Awesome Eats! app and Better Bites—all designed to help parents start healthy conversations at home and pack more nutrition into every bite.
School Garden Grant Program
The Whole Kids Foundation School Garden Grant Program, created in partnership with FoodCorps, has raised more than $3 million in grants to fund school gardens and related activities at more than 1,500 schools. Grants are awarded annually in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.
Let’s Move Salad Bars to Schools
Through key partnerships, Whole Kids Foundation established the Let’s Move Salad Bars to Schools grant program, which has raised more than $6 million and delivered thousands of salad bars to school cafeterias, serving more than a million children. Kids with access to a salad bar at school consume three times more fruits and vegetables!
Healthy Teachers Program
Healthy teachers inspire healthy kids! The Whole Kids Foundation Healthy Teachers Program empowers educators to improve their personal health and wellness so they can be the healthiest possible role models for students. This program promotes simple healthy eating principles through a series of nutrition and cooking classes developed in partnership with FoodFight.
