Erin Schrode, 21, is the co-founder and spokeswoman of Teens Turning Green, a student-led movement promoting global sustainability, youth leadership, environmental education and conscious lifestyle choices.
Have you ever felt as if you wanted to “do something,” but didn’t know where to start? Project Green Challenge is that chance, your entry point into action and sustainability. Our upcoming 30-day eco-lifestyle challenge is mobilizing high school and college students nationwide and around the world through fun, simple and high impact daily steps. We challenge you to complete themed actions each day in October to transition your lifestyle from conventional to conscious!
I am proud to say that Project Green Challenge is an initiative of youth, by youth, for youth! The challenge aims to raise awareness amongst our generation about conscious living, informed consumption, and the collective impact of individual actions. The idea was implemented last year as a way to empower my friends and peers to take action in their own lives and on their school campuses. Now the goal for Project Green Challenge is for hundreds of schools and thousands of students from every corner of the planet to become informed, mobilized, and be the change they want to see in the world.
Ready to see how your daily actions really can have a positive effect on your health and the environment? Then sign up to take Project Green Challenge here and we’ll deliver the daily challenges directly to your inbox, complete with resources, tips, videos and more. Delve deeper, become more engaged, complete the green, greener and greenest levels of daily challenges, share your experiences to gain points – and you might just earn yourself a spot in the Challenge Finals!
Twelve finalists will be flown to San Francisco for an educational and inspiring three-day eco-summit called Green University (November 30 – December 2) where they’ll work with esteemed eco-leaders, present experiences from their 30-day Challenge and work together to create unique platforms for social action. These platforms will then be implemented by Teens Turning Green and youth worldwide in 2013. Green University will culminate with the selection of the Project Green Challenge Champion by a panel of judges. The champion will win a Grand Prize package valued at $15,000!
Get all the details of the challenge, including the complete rules, prize package and lots of ways spread the word and get involved on the Project Green Challenge website.
If all of us teens and young adults take the Challenge and commit to being the change we wish to see in the world, then yes, we can build a powerful, diverse and far-reaching movement that inspires our generation to lead the transition from conventional to conscious and sustain our world.
