A couple months ago, my family declared that Friday nights are pizza nights, so we now have frozen premade pizza dough at the ready. However, it was just last month when I was faced with an abundance of cherries and made Cherry Focaccia that I discovered premade pizza dough is a fantastic shortcut for dishes beyond pizza. Since then, I’ve uncovered even more reasons to have premade pizza dough on hand.

Here are 10 tasty things to make with premade pizza dough –– beyond pizza!

  1. Things to Make with Pizza DoughFocaccia. Pizza dough offers an ultra-simple way to feature late summer's cherry tomatoes in this Quick Heirloom Tomato Focaccia.
  2. Braided breakfast Danish. Store-bought pizza dough makes our Braided Breakfast Danish a snap to pull together.
  3. Cinnamon rolls. All you need is pizza dough, softened unsalted butter, brown sugar and cinnamon. Easy peasy.
  4. Cheesy bread sticks. There’s a good reason that pizza places also sell cheesy bread sticks –– having the dough on-hand means most of the work is already done. (Tip: Roasted garlic is a wonderful addition.)
  5. Tart crust. Pizza dough means a pear-almond or bacon-leek tart can be ready to eat sooner! Find delicious inspiration by searching our tart recipes.
  6. Calzone. Have the kids pitch in and stuff their favorite ingredients into these hand-held savory pies.
  7. Savory Fall FlatbreadEasy dinner rolls. It’s as easy as dividing the pizza dough into balls, brushing with melted butter, letting them rise before baking them.
  8. Flatbread. Savory Fall Flatbread featuring grapes, butternut squash, apples, pears and potatoes lets you enjoy the flavors of fall without much work.
  9. Loaf of bread. You can make one long baguette with the whole ball of dough. Or divide the dough into balls and roll them into mini baguettes. Let them rise before baking.
  10. Crackers. Simply roll out the dough until it's very thin, then prick it all over with a fork before baking in a large sheet. Break up the giant cracker into bite-sized pieces before serving.

So what is the recipe that you use for the pizza dough?

@JANET - If you are checking on the recipe for pizza made in-house, check with your local store directly. If they have a recipe, they will be happy to share it with you.

You can make zeppoli's. Which are little balls of dough that are deep fried and then covered in powdered sugar or cinnamin, like a donut.

For an awesome treat try fried pizza dough...rolled in sugar or cinnamon sugar. Fried dough with pizza sauce and Parmesan cheese! Really anything would taste amazing on top.
