5 New CDs to Help You Shake Off Winter

Emerging from winter holds a special place for us here at Whole Foods Market. Spring fruits and vegetables eagerly come into season, gatherings are planned—doesn’t it seem like there should be some musical accompaniment? These five new CD releases fit the bill nicely.

Frank Sinatra | Sinatra with LoveFRANK SINATRA

Sinatra With Love

Right up there with Elvis and Michael Jackson as one of the biggest-selling solo acts of all time, Frank Sinatra continues to create emotional connections with his exquisite phrasing and smoldering delivery. This unique 16-track collection turns the spotlight on romance, featuring digitally remastered Nelson Riddle-arranged ballads like “Love is Here to Stay” and “It Had to Be You.”

If you’re new to Frank, this is a perfect introduction, while collectors will be especially delighted by the hard-to-find last track — an up-tempo rendition of “My Foolish Heart” arranged by Billy May. As a gift, this CD pairs perfectly with roses.

Al Green | Greatest HitsAL GREEN

Greatest Hits

Long regarded as one of the best “greatest hits” albums of all time, this ten-track compilation takes you on a journey to the heart of soul with Al Green as your masterful guide. From “Tired of Being Alone” to “Let’s Stay Together,” these brilliantly produced tracks never seem to lose their mood-lifting magic.

For a real sense of what is happening right now in the music scene, check out this 18-track collection.

From Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky”, to Lorde’s “Royals”, from Katy Perry’s “Roar”, to “Same Love” from Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, this is a strong compilation of some of the year’s best songs.

Eric Church | The OutsidersERIC CHURCH

The Outsiders

Pushing the boundaries of country music, Eric teams up with fearless Nashville producer Jay Joyce to deliver this intriguingly eclectic new release. Tapping into influences as diverse as The Clash, Nirvana and Charlie Daniels, but always true to his own voice, this North Carolina native is not afraid to innovate and experiment with musical styles.

Norah Jones & Billie Joe Armstrong | ForeverlyNORAH JONES & BILLIE JOE ARMSTRONG

Foreverly

What happens when Norah Jones and Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong team up to deliver a new version of the Everly Brothers’ 1958 album Songs Our Daddy Taught Us? An authentic and hauntingly moving album, surprising in its simplicity and beauty.

The Beatles | Hey JudeTHE BEATLES

Hey Jude

Uniquely created for the US market, this compilation of singles and B-sides remasters well-known hits like “Can’t Buy Me Love” and “Paperback Writer” and also includes lesser-known songs like “Old Brown Shoe” sung by George Harrison. Long available on vinyl, these 10 songs are now out on CD and we’re all the luckier for it!
