Anti-Aging Skin Care: Handy How-Tos and a Great Giveaway

By Paige Schilt, October 14, 2012  |  Meet the Blogger  |  More Posts by Paige Schilt

The giveaway is now closed. Thank you to everyone who entered! Congratulations to our winner, Brittany C. from Texas!

It’s finally beginning to feel like fall in my hometown of Austin, Texas. But while I’m looking forward to sweater weather, my skin is wearing the lingering effects of summer.

I’ll be honest; I spent a lot of time in the sun this year. I love to swim, just like I did when I was a kid, but my skin isn’t getting any younger. Despite every effort to protect myself from harmful rays, I’m starting the fall season with a few more fine lines and brown spots.

I love autumn colors, but this is not what I had in mind.

To the rescue: Whole Foods Market’s latest series of skin care videos. In the first one, esthetician Jennifer Gallegos explains the basics of an anti-aging skincare regimen: antioxidants and exfoliation to remove dead, dry and damaged cells.

Does the change of seasons (and the cranking up of indoor heating) leave your skin a little cranky? Check out our other how-to videos to learn why breakouts occur and how botanical actives (a fancy term for therapeutic levels of plant ingredients) can help keep skin balanced, unclog pores and support healthy inflammatory response.

If you’re ready to go beyond your regular routine, watch our video tutorial for an at-home facial. It features raw, organic honey and MyChelle Apple Brightening Peel, which is a fun way to put seasonal ingredients to work for your skin!

Looking for more ways to revamp your daily regimen? Make sure to watch our new skincare videos, and tell us why your skin needs a little extra TLC. Leave a comment below by Wednesday, October 24 and one lucky commenter will win an Earth Science Active Age Defense skin care kit featuring Earth Science Whipped Cream Cleanser, Toning Elixir, Cellagen, i-Cream, Hydrating Day Cream and Nighttime Recovery Cream.

Let go of last season and celebrate beautiful skin!

The fine print: No purchase necessary. Promotion ends October 24, 2012, 11:59 PM CDT. Must be a legal resident of the US or Canada (except in Quebec, where it is void) age 18 or older to participate. Taxes on prize, if applicable, are the responsibility of the winner. Employees of Whole Foods Market, Inc., are not eligible. Void where prohibited.

My skin needs some serious TLC! Between working long hours at the library (drying airconditioned workplace, check!) and graduate school, my skin is showing all the stress. Although I don't have major breakouts anymore, I still find my skin dull. Help!

This blog is just in time! I've been noticing that even though it's still pretty warm in South Texas, that my skin is starting to feel a little dry and tight. I definitely notice if I forget to put on lotion after I get out of the shower. I've started walking/jogging two miles every day with my new foster dog and I slather on the sunscreen. My poor skin!

Seems like exactly what I need! My skin is super sensitive and breaks out into a rash when using cosmetic with unnatural chemicals.

I love autumn and winter and the cooler weather they bring, but my face tends to get ruddy at this time of year. Some nice natural products to pamper myself with would make enjoying this time of year much easier!

I love Earth Science! They are one of my favorite brands. This blog post is just in time because I have definitely noticed my skin being a little tight and dry some days (despite the fact that it's still mostly warm and humid in South Texas). I have been spending more time outdoors now that I walk & jog with my foster dog every day.

It's great to read skincare tips you can trust. While I am only 22, I still feel the changes in weather putting pressure on my skin. I always buy new products because I haven't found one that really suits me. My skin can be oily one day and then dry the next and I just can't figure out which cleansers, lotions, etc. to use. I enjoy taking care of my skin and think that it is something you should start doing at a young age.

My skin is always in need of a little extra TLC. I've suffered with ezcema for many years, several without knowing what was truly happening with my skin. Fortunately, it has improved with my increased knowledge & extra care, but as the post indicates, with the changes of temperature, various activities, & holiday stresses, my skin is also put to the challenge once again. I love having the information from these blog posts & videos & greatly appreciate the helpful tips. I've also found that the closer to nature the product, the better the response of my skin. MyChelle is wonderful, DE is too! I'd love the opportunity to try & become more familiar with these other brands.
