Anti-Aging Skin Care: Handy How-Tos and a Great Giveaway

By Paige Schilt, October 14, 2012  |  Meet the Blogger  |  More Posts by Paige Schilt

The giveaway is now closed. Thank you to everyone who entered! Congratulations to our winner, Brittany C. from Texas!

It’s finally beginning to feel like fall in my hometown of Austin, Texas. But while I’m looking forward to sweater weather, my skin is wearing the lingering effects of summer.

I’ll be honest; I spent a lot of time in the sun this year. I love to swim, just like I did when I was a kid, but my skin isn’t getting any younger. Despite every effort to protect myself from harmful rays, I’m starting the fall season with a few more fine lines and brown spots.

I love autumn colors, but this is not what I had in mind.

To the rescue: Whole Foods Market’s latest series of skin care videos. In the first one, esthetician Jennifer Gallegos explains the basics of an anti-aging skincare regimen: antioxidants and exfoliation to remove dead, dry and damaged cells.

Does the change of seasons (and the cranking up of indoor heating) leave your skin a little cranky? Check out our other how-to videos to learn why breakouts occur and how botanical actives (a fancy term for therapeutic levels of plant ingredients) can help keep skin balanced, unclog pores and support healthy inflammatory response.

If you’re ready to go beyond your regular routine, watch our video tutorial for an at-home facial. It features raw, organic honey and MyChelle Apple Brightening Peel, which is a fun way to put seasonal ingredients to work for your skin!

Looking for more ways to revamp your daily regimen? Make sure to watch our new skincare videos, and tell us why your skin needs a little extra TLC. Leave a comment below by Wednesday, October 24 and one lucky commenter will win an Earth Science Active Age Defense skin care kit featuring Earth Science Whipped Cream Cleanser, Toning Elixir, Cellagen, i-Cream, Hydrating Day Cream and Nighttime Recovery Cream.

Let go of last season and celebrate beautiful skin!

The fine print: No purchase necessary. Promotion ends October 24, 2012, 11:59 PM CDT. Must be a legal resident of the US or Canada (except in Quebec, where it is void) age 18 or older to participate. Taxes on prize, if applicable, are the responsibility of the winner. Employees of Whole Foods Market, Inc., are not eligible. Void where prohibited.

Well I am getting older and my skin is so dry in the winter. I need to hydrate my skin. I love a facial as your face feels so alive afterwards. I like using organic and natural products. This video was helpful and fun to watch, thanks.

I am constantly looking for good skin care products. My skin is dry and sensitive and I don't like smelly scents. This line seems like a great fit for me. Our new Whole Foods opens in my neighborhood tomorrow in Columbia, SC. I can go buy it then!

It seems like the weather changed overnight, & I went from being comfortable to feeling like a walking dried raisin. My skin is, once again, painfully dry & tight. And with a round-numbered birthday coming up, I feel like I need to be pointed in the direction of the proper products to use to keep myself looking & feeling how I want to!

Would I love this! I have just lost over 155 lbs, been through leukemia, 6 strokes and a heart attack. It all shows through in my skin. I have been looking for a new skin regime, that can hold up to my specific problems plus living in the desert! I am 55 years old and there is no time like the present!

while i am still young, i find this blog very informative. I tend to have very dry skin, so I am suceptible candidate for early wrinkles. I am trying to establish a daily regime of putting lotion on my face and take care of my skin early to prevent wrinkles. I will definetly take advantage of this insightful blog and watch some of the videos- prevention care is key!

The skin-care mantra should be: prevent, prevent, prevent...protect, protect, protect! Great looking, cared for skin gives us more confidence! I am 44 and am told I look younger to mid 30s. It's due to making a point of taking care of myself and having a regimen - however! It's very important to use a quality product. Whole Foods offers many great, quality skin care products. I eat clean and try to eat organic products therefore I take care of my skin the same way. :-)

The weather change into cooler temps usually leave my skin a little drier, so I amp up on the use of shea butter and only use lotion that contains it. So far, so good! It always works for me.

I am in desperate need of a better skin care regimen. I have a toddler and work full time, so my skin care has not been as much of a priority as it should be. I would love to try the Earth Science skincare kit and give my skin the pampering and care that it needs!
