Good-For-You After School Snacks

After school snacks are an essential part of a school year routine, and we find that snack time is so much easier and more fun when our school-goers have had a hand in preparing the treats.

From selecting the perfect apple to choosing grains, nuts and dried fruit in the bulk aisle and using little hands to form snack cookies or flip on the blender – kids love to get in on the shopping and cooking action, too.

Choose smart mini meals and nourishing treats that are packed with fruits, veggies, whole grains and healthy fats for a little boost until dinnertime.

Here are some great sweet and savory options for after school:

Strawberry Almond Butter Smoothie Cheezy Kale Chips

Simply Delicious Homemade Hummus Banana-Oatmeal Snack Cookies

Raw Apple Crisp Almond Brown Rice Pudding

Carrot Cashew Sprea Dried Apple Slices

I too am a food lover that doesn't eat just anything. I eat only the highest quality food and I don't just shop anywhere. I eat certain recipes and eat my food cooked only a certain way under particular conditions. This is why I shop at whole food. I love gourmet specialty food markets where quality is first and foremost. My immediate family that is vegan and vegetarian is proof that you are what you eat. My family members are an intelligent group of people and proof that intake of quality food including snacks will improve your overall life.

Went on to your website this morning (Sat.) and the post on the right mentioned a sale on grass fed ground beef. Went to the store and was told the sale was yesterday (Fri). only. Why would you have a post advertising an expired sale?

I came to the site looking for the recipe for the Vegan Maple Pecan cookies I find in the bakery section of the Whole Foods by me. They don't have them all the time and I'm addicted. I see great pictures of foods here, but don't see how to access the recipes. Any help?

@MARSHA - This sounds like a specific cooking class at your local store. Reach out to your local store to find out if they will be posting these any where online.

@RICHARD - Our apologies for the oversight. We have removed the blog post pertaining to the one day sale.

@BONNIE - I was unable to find anything on our recipe site which means this is probably a store specific recipe. Reach out to your local store directly, if they have a recipe, they will be happy to share it!
