Late July Organic Snacks

By Elizabeth Smith, August 14, 2012  |  Meet the Blogger  |  More Posts by Elizabeth Smith

At Whole Foods Market®, we love sharing good food and drink. Whether it’s a peak-of-the-season berry, a team member creation from our bakery, sausages made in house or a new grocery discovery, we love celebrating great flavors and products. But we don’t just want to tell you about it; we want you to enjoy it too. So, we’re doing a series of summer giveaways through mid-August. Read on to find out how to enter to win.

It might be mid-August, but it’s still time for Late July! Late July Organic Snacks is on a mission to educate people about organics through their taste buds. As a family owned and operated company, they care deeply about the integrity of their products – which all proudly wear the USDA organic seal! This means they meet USDA National Organic Standards requiring that the crops are grown without the use of persistent pesticides. Those standards also don't allow irradiation, genetically modified ingredients (GMOs) and synthetic preservatives.

If you’ve ever searched for snacks for the family that meet your standards, then you’ll understand what Late July Organic Snacks founder Nicole Bernard Dawes went through years ago when her kids were old enough to start snacking. That’s when she knew she had to take matters into her own hands and recreate classic crackers and cookies with organic ingredients and without hydrogenated oils or artificial additives.

With “family” at the forefront, Late July Organic Snacks was started to create a better, more responsible food system for her children and future generations. With help from her father, the founder of Cape Cod Potato Chips, Nicole worked to create delicious snacks without compromising on the quality of ingredients — snacks that lived up to her family’s standards and likely yours too!

Learn more about Late July Organic Snacks, Nicole and her family and their passion for great snack foods in this slideshow.

If you have problems viewing the slideshow, you can watch it on YouTube.

Family remains the primary focus at Late July Organic Snacks, and on any given day you can find three generations at work including Nicole’s eight-year-old and four-year-old sons. (They’re the perfect R&D team!) Impressively that strong sense of family also extends into the community. Late July Organic Snacks supports several nonprofit organizations through the sale of their products, including the Jane Goodall Institute, American Camp Association and Whole Planet Foundation.

Nicole views making food for other people’s families (like yours) an enormous responsibility. Perhaps that’s why we think your whole family will love their Mini Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwiches. You can sit back and enjoy organic peanut butter sandwiched between buttery-tasting organic mini crackers, without worrying about trans fats, artificial sweeteners, flavors, colors or preservatives – because there aren’t any! With values like those, their products can’t help but leave a great taste in your mouth.

What’s built up your appetite this summer? Tell us in the comments below by August 26 and we’ll pick a winner at random to receive a case of Late July Organic Peanut Butter Sandwich Crackers.

The fine print: No purchase necessary. Promotion ends August 26, 2012, 11:59 PM CDT. Must be a legal resident of the US or Canada (except in Quebec, where it is void) age 18 or older to participate. Taxes on prize, if applicable, are the responsibility of the winner. Employees of Whole Foods Market, Inc., are not eligible. Void where prohibited.

I've been trying to eat more veggies this summer, and I have fallen in love with spinach! I've been low on iron, so I've been throwing spinach in with at least one meal a day. I never knew how much I could like this vegetable!

This summer my small family of 4 (including 7 & 9yr old boys that eat as much as their father) packed and moved to a new home, attended Extreme Sports Camp for Autism, and went back and forth to Denver several times. It has been a busy summer and we are all ready for school! Jill

I've worked up an appetite this summer by hanging numerous Yes on Prop 37 flyers to encourage Californians to vote to label genetically modified/genetically engineered (GMO) food this November. In fact, I almost always have something of Late July's in my pantry, since USDA Organic also means non-GMO (and their crackers are awesome).

This summer, between traveling by car with two children across the states (1800 miles one way to be exact) to visit family and being in a new enviroment (went from living in Washington State to Las Vegas, Nevada) and ruptureing two disks in my back I have not had near enough time to do what I do best, Cook. I love cooking and bakeing for my family and feeding them wholesome foods. I am addicted to my kitchen but dont always have time to spend in it, thank goodness for healthy snacks like Late July Peanut Butter Sandwich Crackers.

I've spent much of my available time this summer trying my hand at gardening green beans, cucumbers, tomatoes, basil, rosemary and okra. Not sure about the okra, but it's interesting. I also have millet and gourds. I get to work off the day's stress and get the satisfaction of watching life at work. The hummingbird and butterflies appreciate my planting for them as well.
