VIP Snacks for the Big Game

It’s time to make the snacks we serve while watch the big game as memorable as the commercials! Here are five snacks that can’t lose.

I heard that the Sunday of the big game is the second largest day for food consumption behind Thanksgiving. So why don’t we put as much thought into what we eat during the big game as we do on Thanksgiving?

Depending on where I watch the game, sometimes the entrée changes — tri-tip in California, chili in Ohio and King Casserole in Texas — but some things like snacks remain the same. Those chips, dips and bowls of cereal snack mixes aren’t usually great, but you eat them because they’re there.

It’s time to make the snacks as memorable as the commercials! Whether you’re hosting the watching party or bringing a snack, score big points with delicious options and better-for-you choices. Here are five snacks that can’t lose.

  • Bearitos Pita Chips. These Non-GMO Project Verified opens in a new tab chips are flavorsome and great for dipping in hummus, salsa or veggie dips. Look for Multigrain, Sea Salt, or Olive Oil, Lemon & Garlic.

  • Engine 2 Plant-Strong® Hummus. Here’s the scoop: this vegan hummus is creamy and delectable — with no extracted oils! Serve it as a dip for carrots, celery, sliced bell peppers and pita chips.

  • Tiny But Mighty Popcorn. From a third generation, family-owned and -operated business, this Non-GMO Project Verified ancient heirloom popcorn is easier to digest than regular popcorn because the kernels are smaller and denser and the hull disintegrates when popped.

  • GimMe Roasted Seaweed Snacks. New to seaweed? These crispy vegetable snacks — yes, seaweed is a veggie — are the perfect introduction for newbies. They’re savory, light and roasted to perfection. Tasty tip: crumble them over popcorn.

  • Late July Classico Tortilla Chips. It’s tradition with a twist! These new organic Non-GMO Project Verified tortilla chips wow with big, bold scrumptious seasonings. Try Crispy Yellow Corn, Nacho Chipotle, Bacon Habanero or Jalapeno Lime. A few are vegan too!
