Love this information and absolutely love Whole foods......as I am approaching my senior years, I am putting myself as the priority as well as taking care of my skin using natural products. Thank you for this article.

I think what you put on your body is just as important as what you put in your body! These tips are so helpful...nobody wants those weird chemicals building up in their body over time.

As I've aged, I've come to realize that the more make-ups and moisturizers I've used on face actually make my skin look worse than when I've gone without. I've been interested in trying natural cosmetics and skin care products whose first priority is "do no harm" when it comes to my skin and the environment. After listening to your podcast, I'm even more committed. It scares me that personal care products aren't as strictly regulated. I'll get enough formaldehyde when I'm dead, thank you very much! I'm glad to see that Whole Foods took a step forward in classifying products they found to be "premium" and set a high standard for quality and safety in personal care products they endorse.

Great information in the podcast - it's true; what we put ON our bodies can be just as important as what we're putting IN them. itsjustbrig(at)gmail(dot)com

Thanks! I always check that skin deep site: http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com/splash.php?URI=%2Findex.php to see if there are a lot of nasty chemicals in makeup and body products.

Hey all! Thanks for podcast. I know about parabens and CO for already 5 years and try to use non chemical products. My list of approximately 20 "NO" items is always in the wallet... Thought, I am still looking for perfect make-up products (perfect non chemical liquid foundation, mascara etc... ), creams and lotions, shampoos and cleansers I use are only without harmful elements. I only could say Thanks to WF for their beauty sections - they have Dr.Hauschka (best lipgloss), lots of choices for body care and - I was amazed - no parabens waxing kits - that's the best thing ever! WF is a very good place, this podcast is thought so so - guys, better give us some videos, where someone would browse in your beauty sections and would explain us what new products you have. I would love it!

I enjoyed the interview with Mara. I could not agree with her more. Since our skin is our largest organ, we must not put harmful chemicals on it. I worry about chemical reactions and toxins absorbing into my skin! An educated consumer is the best defense.

The Skin Deep site is awesome. They also review sunscreens and list their top 10 and recommended common brands. http://www.cosmeticdatabase.org/special/sunscreens2008/index.php I currently use Badger because it was readily available at Whole Foods in Austin.

Since I don't have a Whole nearby, I didn't know that they sold a lot of organic beauty products, I will definitely go down to the city now and check it out. It bothers me to see so many brands try to jump on the natural ingredients bandwagon, just to look at the ingredients list and find that SLS or some petroleum-based product (or similarly damaging synthetic) first in the list. Talk about missing the point!

This is great! Also use Skin Deep website. So happy to have been able to purchase Burt's Bees Grapefruit & Sugar Beet Shampoo & Nature's Gate Lavendar & Aloe conditioner at Whole Foods. No longer break out from some former brands. Giovanni Sunset Styling Lotion also agrees with my scalp. These I now take to my hairdresser! Wish I had listened to my Mother years ago! Never too late to make changes. Thank you for providing so many wonderful products. Sharon

This is amazing! I completely agree with everything that was said. I have a problem with the makeup I buy in the store because I'm just too darn sensitive. Thank you for the chance to win this!

Burt's Bees all the way! I see more and more anti-wrinkle serum commercials every day. If just ingredients in regular moisturizers can be bad, what do you think is in anything that plumps your skin? This is also more than just about product safety, but about revamping our dependence on physical beauty (especially the youthful sort.) I'm one to know, I once used crest Whitestrips until my gums zinged with pain. Something is wrong with that.

We should definitely look into what ingredients are in our body care products. I'm trying to incorporate more natural products into my skin care regime. Before I used to use baby oil to remove my makeup but now I use extra virgin olive oil. I've become more aware when buying and take time to read the labels.
