Wow, I knew that some makeup and other products had harmful ingredients but didn't realize to what extent. I'm so glad Whole Foods is helping make people aware of how important it is to use organic and natural products!

Excellent topic and we should try to be more careful with what we ingest as well as what we apply topically.

I am paying very close attention to what I put on my skin. Including changing my deodorant to aluminum free.

Cynthia C says …

I don't want to have dangerous chemicals and ingredients absorbed through my skin. http://www.girl-woman-beauty-brains-blog.com/

Gina says …

When you think about your skin as an organ, it is really crazy to consider soaking it with lotions loaded with chemical- this seeps right into ones blood stream, not to mention it dehydrates the skin.

Wanda says …

Good point Regina made. Many deodorants are loaded with aluminum and can really have adverse affects.

Great podcast, I truly appreciate the series you have put together!

Love the natural products that are coming on strong.

Huguette E. says …

Very interesting! It's not something I even thought about until lately. I'll have to watch the ingredients of my beauty supplies.

A natural moisturizer is so important this time of year. Really any seasonal change causes a change in your skins ph and it can easily dry out. The natural approach is so much more beneficial, thanks for carrying and promoting such products!

After suffering from acne and hyperpigmentation, I have become an ingredient reader. I threw away EVERY commercial product I had, my nose became as sensitive as my skin. Most commercial products are full of perfumes that my skin can't tolerate. I've found that shea butter works very well for my skin, arbutin and kojic acid are best for hyperpigmentation and I could go on and on...

Thanks for creating an all natural beauty care line. It was surprising hearing all the different chemicals that you should stay away from. Can't wait to try some!!!!

Lola says …

This information is very interesting. I never considered trying all natural makeup.

CMC says …

I learned that skin products containing petrolatum, paraben and/or mineral oil should be avoided!

As I have gotten older, I have started considering quality instead of cost when it comes to my personal care products. It is true that natural products are often more costly than mass produced commercial ones. IMO, it's worth paying the $ if it means it is better for my skin, and I am not covering myself with harmful preservatives.

I'm hideously allergic to makeup and related products, no wonder! I'll definitely have to check into natural products, I've just been going au natural up to now :)

It is always great to learn more about the skin as a key organ. I believe in natural products esp in cosmetics. Preservatives are scary! Thanks for the great information.

Wow I love mineral makeup and tinted moisturizers!

What great information - and very well presented!

Thanks for the info! I've started to read labels on almost everything. I'm glad we can go to stores like whole foods and not worry about what we are putting in or on our bodies. Keep up the good work!

I linked here from www.mommymandy.com for the givewaway. Thanks! Informative podcast. But I wonder is there a master list somewhere on the internet of makeup and skincare ingrediants that we should avoid?

Monkeygirl says …

I think I need to throw out all my makeup and start over!

Choosing healthy, natural products has become difficult (if not impossible) in other stores. It is nice to know that Whole Foods not only carries the most pure products, but continues to review and update them as new information becomes available. Thank you for making shopping for body products (and everything else you carry) easy again!

Wish there were more ways we could sample these products before investing in them. http://the-coveted.com

I wish natural products were less expensive! I do have a few things that are natural but I got them on sale. Thanks for the podcast!

Very informative podcast. I really want to learn more about this subject.

Joanne Schultz says …

How interesting! Thanks for the information!

I began paying attention to the body products I use a few years ago. Since then I have no only cut the amount of products I use in half, but also purchase only products with lower levels of chemicals of sulfates and parabans. It is always important to read all labels, especially paying attention to what deodorant you use.

I had no idea what I was putting on my face - definitely something to think about!

Deb K says …

I agree with that saying too~What we put on our bodies is just as important what we put in them!

great podcast..remember your skin is your largest organ..take care of it!

Naddez says …

The podcast was interesting. However, I would like the prices of the natural products was more reasonable.

A. Ozair says …

this podcast was kind of informative..and an eye opener...of how skin is considered the largest organ...one should take care of it

Kimberly says …

As I get older I'm definitely watching what I put into & on my body. I love being able to try new natural & organic products, it really makes me feel like I'm doing something healthy for myself. This podcast was amazingly informative, thanks for keeping women aware.

Eunice says …

i've always thought natural makeup was just part of those trends but after this podcast, i should really save up for them...however, like everyone else said, natural makeup is waaay too expensive...

Alice Hansen says …

Its scary to think that what we put on our skin is absorbed into our body yet there's no required government testing for personal care products - which basically all go directly onto our skin! Thanks for this great podcast.

karina says …

Wow, very informative. Thank you.

Gauravi says …

I am so thankful for this podcast. It is really odd how we can all be so oblivious to what we put on our faces and in our bodies. It is videos like this that help and educate us with the right knowledge. Thank you! I am totally going to try this make-up out-

Laney says …

I love how much thought has gone into this project!

Peggy Gorman says …

I am very worried about my elderly mom who goes outside and rides around in her hoveround . Putting sunscreen on her is scary because of her meds and the added chemicals that are absorbed into her skin. Thanks for the info

This podcast has taught me a lot, and I am currently focused on clearing out my cosmetics that are bad for me and environment and replacing them with a whole new set of ORGANIC and NATURAL products. I know this set would be a great start to replenishing my makeup supply. I am so glad this information is out there, or I never would have imagined the kind of toxins to be found in my makeup!

mai says …

Organic products are great but they can be a bit more pricey, and sometimes I've choose the cheaper one. but I'm slowly choosing more organic products over the other because I'm starting to see the signs of aging and starting to worry about what I put on myself and how it will affect me.

Gemma Seager says …

Really useful. So often you don't think at all about what is in the make up you put on your skin every day. Found out about this podcast, and the site in fact, from “http://the-coveted.com”
