Looking for high quality pet products? With buzzwords like “premium,” “ultra-premium,” “super-premium” and “gourmet” on the packaging, shopping for pet food can be a real challenge. We’re here to help you solve the kibble conundrum and make some informed choices. Over the years, we’ve developed long-standing, trusted relationships with several pet food companies that put animal health first and that are transparent in their manufacturing practices, so we can know as much as possible about the ingredients in every product. Unlike some mainstream brands, our vendors are committed to consumer education and want you to know exactly what is in their products. Since the products in our stores meet our Quality Standards, you can rest assured that they are all free of artificial flavors, colors and preservatives. These companies are also committed to safety, and none of the pet foods in our current selection have ever been affected by a safety recall. The pet food brands we carry provide a variety of choices:
  • Natural and organic
  • Grain- or gluten-free diets
  • Special formulas for weight control, joint support and urinary tract health
This way, your pet is covered regardless of your feeding philosophy, or of their specific dietary needs, preferences or sensitivities. And don’t forget that we’ve got more than food for your pets! From flea and tick prevention to dental care, we've got great natural choices for your Whole Buddy. Now, what about those label buzzwords. Need a little help understanding all the jargon? We break it down for you in our Pet Food Label FAQ. And we dug up the truth about a few common myths about pets and food too. So there you have it! Feeding your pets a high quality pet food (along with providing regular exercise and lots of fresh water) is one of the best ways to keep them feeling great. Now all you have to do is sit back, relax and pamper your pet with good belly rubs and behind-the-ear scratches.

A big "well done" to Whole Foods for enabling their customers to give their canine companions the best of diets. It's another step closer to my dream that one day all dogs will have good food.

I think this is great. I would like to point out that not all Whole Foods Markets have grain free options, as I have been looking to purchase grain free for a bulldog, but it is not available at my location.

Frenchie's Kitchen food saves me so much grief from my little picky girl. I found it in your pet food freezer but haven't heard about it anywhere else. It's like the most delicious food out there, along with the canned spot's stew chicken. As for grain free kibble y'all should carry orijen.

I think it's great that some healthier pet options are available at Whole Foods, however, I find it disappointing that they carry treats made in China. I don't believe that is in line with the quality of the human foods that are available there. If China is putting melamine in baby food, what are they putting in dog food/treats. I think they need to research some of their pet food products more carefully. There are a lot of great choices in the market now so I think that they could make some better choices. Just do your own research & make sure to read the labels...just because it's at Whole Foods doesn't mean it's good for your pet.

Organix foods are the absolute best I have found, and reasonably priced. Both my cat and my dog thrive on these products and I am so happy to recommend them. I spent years finding something that my Ragdoll cat would really like! The dog...well.. she's a dog.. they eat all sorts of stuff, some food, some kleenex..but her coat and skin look great when on Organix.

I love my dog, Sake the "senior" pug. Thanks for this great post. If your pet is suffering now from the summer heatwave, I have a "pug-sicle" recipe to share with your readers at http://worththewhisk.com/2009/04/20/pug-cicles-for-dog-days/ Keep up the wonderful posts!

Hi, My husband and I went organic on earthday this year. And shortly after we decided to go organic food for our dogs too! Well, we changed over to Party Animals Dog Food and they love it! Since changing over their coats are softer and they don't shed as much. Plus, they seem so much happier when the dinner bell rings.

Just a note that the Dogswell treats you stock are made in China. I stopped using them when I learned this due to the melamine found in foods from China a few years ago. Dogswell also makes treats made in the US; I found them at the pet store. Could you look in to stocking those instead? Thanks!
