I heard that whole food removed Israeli products from their shelf. Is that true

My favorite snack is guacamole, with fresh tomatoes, red onion, lime and a dash of oj! Yum.

My snack preferences totally depend on the season - both in terms of what is fresh and available and whether I want something hot to warm up or cold to cool down. In summer I like tangy yogurt or veggies dipped in hummus or guacamole or cottage cheese sprinkled with toasted sesame seeds and some local fresh fruit. In winter I actually love having vegetable soup as a snack or sometimes just a hot mug of vanilla almond milk.

My all-time favorite snack is Greek yogurt. I eat it almost every day. I LOVE it plain but depending on my mood I will add an assortment of fresh or frozen fruit, granola, chopped nuts or a little bit of dark chocolate. I love that I can do so many things with Greek yogurt to keep things interesting. I also love Fage's cherry variety because it reminds me of eating a tart cherry cheesecake, but with only 140 calories! I hope I win, this is a great contest!

A healthy after school snack that I like to feed my kids is green protein shakes. Totally healthy with the greens and the fruit and the vanilla soy protein! They love it. They also enjoy celery with peanut butter, pita with hummus, or pretzels with peanut butter! YUM.

My 7th grader likes cut up veggies with homemade hummus or a ranch dip made with Fage 2% yogurt instead of sour cream and mayo. Freeze a juice box and it stays cold until lunch. She also likes hard-boiled eggs (pre-peeled and salted then stored in a baggie), babybel cheese, or a Clif bar, in a pinch. I like tea sweetened with xylitol, or a kale whole-juice smoothie. Use a banana, fruit juice, and any other veggie...wow! I amazingly good and super filling. I use my blend-tec blender on the "whole juice" setting. It makes it smooth and light like a juice, but you get all that fiber you lose if using a traditional juicer. Yum!

Here's a neat (as in tidy, not messy, etc.) snack for kids: Cut a favorite cheese into small bite-sized cubes and stick pretzels into the tops. They look like hors d'oeuvres and are completely edible. An easy handle for the child and nothing sticky or gooey to have to clean up afterwards! My mother came up with this in the '60s when she was a room-mother for us kids. Room-mothers provided snacks for the class in those days and neatness was a primary goal for us primary school kids! Pretty healthy, too (in small quantities) and most kids like them.

Well I just love taking cherries and takeing the pit out. Then fill them with a nice aeole sauce and dipping them in a creamy butter cream dressing. Next I let those marinate for bout a minute before shoving them nice and deep inside a bannana nut muffin. Mmm then drizzle a little chocolate plum sauce on top with a little chili pepper shavings (preferably habenaros) Its the beez knees!!!

Ants on a log! I sub in almond butter instead of peanut, and dried cranberries instead of raisins. Delicious.

Kristi says …

One of my kids' favorites isFire Ants on a Log (celery, peanut butter, and dried cranberry "ants")--no, they're not actually hot :) Also, for a sweet treat, peanut butter smores. Place a large marshmallow on top of a square graham cracker and microwave about 8 seconds until it just starts to puff. Top with a small square of chocolate and spread peanut butter on the inside of the top graham cracker. I love homemade granola. There are lots of possible variations, but I typically end up using some combination of pecans, walnuts, or almonds, plus rolled oats, sunflour seeds, flax seed, honey, cinnamon, and a bit of oil. Toast in the oven on a cookie sheet. Yummy for breakfast or as a crunchy topping for strawberries and yogurt.

Melissa K. says …

Our family usually goes for carrot and celery sticks, bananas, apples and oranges or yogurt. Extended family thinks it strange when my kids ask for tomatoes or celery and everyone else is eating cheese-puffs or snack cakes, but I love that they think of veggies as a tasty treat!

My favorite Snack is "Nutsy Bannanas". I cut a bananna length-wise and spread peanut butter on both halfs. I then sprinkle each side with roasted pistachios. It is the greatest snack. It leaves me feeling happy and healthy!

Kim G says …

My favorite healthy snack is a peanut butter and jam on toast. But it's made with only the best ingredients! I like the organic 365 peanut butter, and I like to use the Crofter's superfruit spread on a sprouted wheat bread. So yummy and it's not too sweet!!
