Since the season is almost upon us, a fresh apple, although plain, can hardly be beat.

When I was a kid (way before Smoothies became popular), my mom would put frozen peach chunks in the blender and make Peach Slushies. We were trendy way ahead of time!

One of my kids' favorites isFire Ants on a Log (celery, peanut butter, and dried cranberry "ants")--no, they're not actually hot :) Also, for a sweet treat, peanut butter smores. Place a large marshmallow on top of a square graham cracker and microwave about 8 seconds until it just starts to puff. Top with a small square of chocolate and spread peanut butter on the inside of the top graham cracker. I love homemade granola. There are lots of possible variations, but I typically end up using some combination of pecans, walnuts, or almonds, plus rolled oats, sunflour seeds, flax seed, honey, cinnamon, and a bit of oil. Toast in the oven on a cookie sheet. Yummy for breakfast or as a crunchy topping for strawberries and yogurt.

Our family usually goes for carrot and celery sticks, bananas, apples and oranges or yogurt. Extended family thinks it strange when my kids ask for tomatoes or celery and everyone else is eating cheese-puffs or snack cakes, but I love that they think of veggies as a tasty treat!

My favorite Snack is "Nutsy Bannanas". I cut a bananna length-wise and spread peanut butter on both halfs. I then sprinkle each side with roasted pistachios. It is the greatest snack. It leaves me feeling happy and healthy!

My favorite healthy snack is a peanut butter and jam on toast. But it's made with only the best ingredients! I like the organic 365 peanut butter, and I like to use the Crofter's superfruit spread on a sprouted wheat bread. So yummy and it's not too sweet!!

The most versatile snack dipper I use is plain Greek yogurt. If you've got a sweet tooth that day you can drizzle a little honey on it and dip some fruit in it like peaches and strawberries. If your in more of a savory mood you can mix in some herbs and spices, or find your favorite veggie dip packet and voila! Dunk your favorite veggies and you've got a healthier dip in your hands. I love, love, love sliced cucumbers in it.
