I love to buy the Chobani Greek yogurt (Plain & nonfat) because it's got a high content of protein and then i will add fresh fruits like strawberries or grapes and sometimes i will add a muesli instead for the carbohydrates. I love the combination of protein and carbohydrates because it gives me energy and keeps me nice and full for a few hours.

By far my favorite healthy snack is fresh fruit and vegetables, but I also like cottage cheese, plain dried cereal, and packets of instant oatmeal (not together!). In the summer I also enjoy a handful of frozen vegetables-- straight from the freezer-- and have recently started baking extra small sweet potatoes and keeping them in the refrigerator for when a craving hits!

My favorite snack is baked kale chips! Chop into pieces, place on tinfoil-lined baking sheet, spritz lightly with olive oil, sprinkle on lemon pepper (or any other seasoning), and bake at 305 F for 12 minutes. They should be crisp but not brown. YUM.

Packing healthy lunches goes beyond school. I pack my lunch daily for work in order to avoid all the unhealthy and bad tasting offerings at nearby fast food restaurants. My favorite snacks include granola and soy yogurt, "Laurabars," guacamole w/ rice crackers, and apples with organic nut butters. Another favorite is homemade trail-mix made with seeds, nuts, dried fruit, and vegan chocolate chips. The greatest part; I share often with my coworkers, which has transformed the culture of eating overall in my office.

I absolutely love all fruits! Nothing is better than a little fresh fruit salad -- just cut up a few fruits: apples, canteloupe, watermelon, white peaches, nectarine, oranges, tangerines, whatever you like -- add some grapes or cherries, mix it all up and store 1 cup servings in various containers. If you plan to be outside you can even freeze it earlier and take them with you....they are either a frozen treat or all thawed and cool when you are ready to eat them!!! YUMMY!

When my kids come home from school they are hot and tired (it has really been hot in Texas). We make cool, healthy smoothies. We make your standard fruit smoothies with juice, frozen bananas and berries, or smoothies made from soy milk and tofu (with frozen banana, carob powder and honey) or a mango smoothie with buttermilk and honey. They love them, it cools them off, and I know they are getting at least a couple of servings of fruit. Delicious!

I like grinding my own almond butter and spreading onto Holgrain brown rice crackers, topped with organic raspberry spread. Nuts mixes and fruits are great to snack and and so is salad, which I eat once or twice daily. I also love goat cheese on the Holgrain crackers. I've found lots of wonderful goat cheeses at WFM.
