The experience of growing up on a 200 acre farm in Alamance County was a treasure trove of information that I truly only appreciated upon becoming an adult. Besides the sense of community and helping each other that experience taught me, I have learned that purchasing LOCAL food gives one the opportunity to control the quality (clean, pesticide and hormone free) food they eat. Until I began purchasing local food, I must say that I had forgotten how REAL food taste. The taste are so true, bright and vibrant. The experience takes me back to the farm where the food was always SO good and plentiful. Besides the health benefits, I always feel very satisfied and therefore eat lesser amounts because of the satisfying taste. I truly appreciate the local producers....keep up the good work.

I love locally produced goods because the quality is better, you know where the goods come from, and it's much more environmentally friendly!

Buying local helps support our local producers and farmers. I prefer to help local businesses and choose purchasing from them instead of multi-million corporations.

I love local producers because they take care in what they produce, use the best ingredients and offer products that mass producers just don't. Local rocks!

If I can't grow it myself, I want to get something that is as locally grown as possible. It's good for the producers, good for me and good for the world. What is better than a win/win/win situation? Thanks for helping the world.

Supporting local business ensures our communities thrive. I enjoy meeting the people that are involved in the production of the goods-they are always motivated and care a lot about what they do and what goes into their products.

I love the idea that buying local keeps local farms in business. I would much rather drive by farms in the morning than more high-end housing developments. On my drive, I see cows, turkeys, sheep, goats, quail, turkeys, and beautiful fruit-bearing trees. Also, my local pick-your-own farm has started making their own wines!

I love local foods for two reasons, the foods taste better because they are fresher and I like the idea of my money staying local.

Buying local means eating what's available in our area seasonally. It also supports eating closer to your plate and of course supporting local farmers and small businesses. It is also fun for my children to go to local farms and see what's available.

I like to shop at our local farm stand. But, being a caregiver for my elderly father, I can't always get there. It's nice to be able to purchase local produce at Whole Foods. I know my money supports community business, and good food goes in my family's tummy. Thanks Whole Foods.

As a child, my favorite pastime was to visit the local swap meets with my father. He always told me to "Grow what you can and buy what you need from the local market. Every dollar you spend goes to help your neighbor. The food always tastes better when you know who grows it. Just think of all the loving care they put into growing healthy food for us." This brought about a great sense of pride as I often would help neighbors remove insects from their crops and never remember anyone using chemicals. We were organic farmers back then and never knew it!

In one word? CARROTS-there is nothing better than the earthy smell, the satisfying crunch, and the heavenly taste of a local carrot. Wether munching on it raw--or steaming al dente and serving with a bit of butter, salt, and dill--heaven!! You can't get that from a rubbery supermarket carrot.

So many reasons to buy local. It is organic, a lot fresher and better tasting, it supports our local farmers and small businesses, which in turn supports our community. By buying what is in season also helps us get a variety. Thank you "Whole Foods" for supporting our local farmers!!!
