How Tweens & Teens Benefit from Natural

By Mara Fleishman, July 29, 2008  |  Meet the Blogger  |  More Posts by Mara Fleishman
Many people “go natural” when they have a baby, but what about later on? If raising your kids “green” has proved to be a challenge, tune in for simple ways and reasons to choose natural products. This highly respected eco-entrepreneur talks about makeup, deodorant, toothpaste and supplements from her own mothering experience. Lynda Fassa is the founder of Green Babies, the oldest existing organic cotton clothing company on the planet, and author of Green Babies and Sage Moms.

Are there plans for a 365 brand childrens hair care line? I really appreciate the value of going natural with kids care, but the price is difficult for me to swallow.

Very hip. I like seeing Lynda Fassa live and in the flesh, her book was a bedside fav during our first years.

@Pamela D Yes! I'm far from being a kid, but I use their Silly Strawberry toothpaste and think it's swell.

@Devon There are no plans right now for a 365 children’s line, but we are always thankful for your feedback and are keeping options open for new products!

Nice video, although it seems a bit contrived when the guest points out your mineral makeup line as her favorite. Don't get me wrong this is a great series and I have been following for awhile now.

Hi Rory: I know it seems goofy or suspect, but I really do love Mineral Fusion and honestly would never suggest anything I don't personally believe in and use. Also Mara didn't even ask me the brands I was going to talk about--we just walked and talked. But I appreciate you wondering, it gives me the opportunity to explain, because maybe other folks wondered, too.

I agree with other posters, Weleda is an amazing company. I first discovered this when I lived in Germany, and when I can find it I snatch it up in the US. I've noticed some Whole Foods have a few of their products.

Glad to hear there is a new book coming up. Once you have become familiar with natural products such as tooth paste and shampoo, it is startling to smell Crest or Head and Shoulders... ouch.

Toothpaste is such an important product to use naturally. Both adults and particularly children swallow a decent amount of paste when brushing.
