iPhone App Guides a Mission to Health

Are you ready to try a range of nutrient dense foods, form some new healthy habits and have fun doing it? As a part of our ongoing mission to promote wellness and encourage healthier lifestyles, our new iPhone app - Whole Foods Market "Missions" - will help you eat better and live better. Shoppers often come to us for advice on how to take charge of their health, so we created an app to help customers incorporate healthy foods, exercise and more through simple, everyday actions. Our app revolves around 70+ challenges known as Missions, where you engage in a series of steps to earn badges and bragging rights. You can create your own profile to track the badges you earn and then broadcast your accomplishments directly from the app to Facebook, Twitter, and email. In addition to challenging you to earn badges like Organic Avenger, Local Yokel and Nutty Ninja, the "Missions" app also provides a database of more than 300 tips to help you succeed. Tips include advice on nutrition, food selection, storage, cooking and more. You can save your favorites for future reference, and share them with your social network. Our Missions app also includes a store locator, which works just like the Whole Foods Market Recipes app, which we launched a little over a year ago. Whole Foods Market's "Missions" app is available for free from Apple's App Store on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch or at itunes.com/appstore. For more information please visit the iPhone app page on our website. Tell us what you think of our new app in the comment section below, or write a review in the iTunes store!

Hey guys, what's the status on getting a WholeFoods Android app? The last update was in August. Have the developers started on it? Are they planning anything for the legion of Android users out there? It's starting to feel suspiciously... partisan.

Hello, when will the Android app that is comparable to the iPhone app be released? Those that have downloaded the one for the Android says it is not the same and I want to be able to download the coupons...thanks!

says …

@Susanne We're working on this right now. The release date is scheduled for early 2012. Unfortunately I'm not able to give you a solid date on this but we're working tirelessly to get you Android-ers set up with all the coolest tools available. 2012 should see great improvements to our mobile customers so please stay tuned!

@bpositive Thank you for your suggestions. We are working on fulfilling your request right now. Our latest mobile strategy meetings have been very positive and we're hoping to provide our customers with Android Apps and other mobile capabilities in the next few months. So keep your eyes peeled. :)

Awesome news about the android support. Count me in when it comes out. Hopefully that is sooner rather than later. Obviously you will make a lot of people happy when you release it.

Android has a higher market share than iPhone, when is the Android app going to be available?

says …

@Mario We are working on enhancing the capabilities of all our digital outreach on both the Andriod and iPhone platforms. You should see much more availability of apps for Andriod around April, 2012. Thank you for your patience.

Karen says …

This is one of my favorite iPhone apps ever! Use it all the time. Would LOVE to have the same on my android tablet. Please share an update!! April is long gone! ;)

Another vote for Android app. Something else that would be nice (but probably beyond ability) would be the ability to make a grocery list of products that are actually in the store that is organized by aisle.

Organic Panda says …

3 years later... still no Android app. Whole Foods, as with their stores, only caters to certain groups of mobile users ;) Maybe they feel Android users belong at Walmart. It is not that hard to code an Android app, guys, and I'm sure it's not even a cost issue for WFM.

@ORGANIC PANDA - We are actually launching an updated iPhone and new Android app. It should be out in the next couple of weeks so make sure to check it out!
