Kids World Party

Read on for a chance to win a 14-CD set from Putumayo’s Kids Playground series along with Kids World Party. Dan Storper is the CEO and Founder of Putumayo World Music. Kids World Party, a global medley of fun tunes from Trinidad to South Africa, launches the new Kids Party music series for Putumayo. Like the acclaimed Playground and Dreamland collections, Kids Party is sure to please adults too! With the release of World Playground in 1999, Putumayo Kids established its children’s music collections as passports to learning about the world’s cultures. Kids World Party marks a return to these global roots with 12 fun, danceable songs accompanied by a multilingual (English, Spanish, French, German), child-friendly booklet that explores how children worldwide celebrate special occasions. The CD comes enclosed in a new eco-friendly package without a plastic tray. Kids World Party also marks the start of a very special relationship with Amnesty International, in commemoration of the Noble Peace Prize-winning organization’s 50th anniversary, and continues a long Putumayo tradition of tying music and humanitarian work together in a seamless fashion. Fifty cents from the sale of each Kids World Party CD will go to Amnesty in support of their work to promote and protect human rights worldwide. A sampling of the artists featured on Kids World Party include famed Indian pop and Bollywood singer Lucky Ali, who contributes “Kitni Haseen Zindagi,” a song that celebrates life. South Africa’s Sharon Katz and The Peace Train, whom Nelson Mandela appointed as a Cultural Ambassador of the nation, has thrilled international audiences with the beats and harmonies of their music, and delights listeners with “Sanalwami.” The infectious “Afro-Cuban Funk” of Cuban-American band PALO! is heard on their song “Quimbombó” — the Spanish word for okra, a type of vegetable used to make stews in Louisiana, Cuba and Africa. Watch and hear a sample in this music video. Also featured on Kids World Party is bilingual (English-French) singer Will Stroet, an award-winning Canadian musician whose song “Le boogie à vélo” tells children that you can boogie even while riding a bike safely. U.S. musicians Tom Freund and Friends performs the participatory song “Freezedance” and fellow American Eric Bibb rounds out the collection with Jackie Wilson’s classic soul tune “Higher and Higher.” We think this CD is going to be the hit of your next kids’ party. In that light, what’s the best kids’ party you ever created or attended? Leave a comment below by July 26th for a chance to win a 14-CD collection from Putumayo Kids Playground series plus the newly released Kids World Party. That’s a lot of music! One comment will be selected randomly to win. Good luck!

My kids are still little, so we have not had to do anything creative yet. The biggest hit is having the party at the local farm with hayrides and/or pony rides. The farm animal theme is easy to make games up as well.

Best kids party I attended has to be my cousin's kids party. It was Superhero themed. She went all out making every little detail so special. She created all her own cup cake toppers, bottle labels, and even cut outs the kids could take photos in. EVerything looked straight out of a comic book. There were even handmade capes and masks for every kid there! And not to mention all the grown men that got to play the best dress up ever...they dressed up as super heroes (superman, ironman etc) for the kids amazement. It was truly a special birthday for her twin boys and we had so much fun.

My favorite parties are simple. Kids running around the backyard on a shady summer afternoon, playing tag or imagination games, with balls or sprinklers. Family and good friends, good food on the grill, some great music. Roasting marshmallows over a bonfire while it gets dark and chasing fireflys. I think these CD's would fit our summer neighborhood parties perfectly!

Putumayo's music is something we can all enjoy on car trips without anyone threatening to throw themselves from the car. I'm pretty sure Barney the Dinosaur can't make the same claim.

All boys need is an Indoor playground/jungle gym. Pizza and cake were served along with lots of water. The kids were still sweating even though it was totally air conditioned. Fun was had by all! I speak French and would love my kids to learn more from the Putumayo Kids Playground CDs.

Best party was a bike parade party for 5 year old. All of his friends brought their bikes over and we decorated the bikes, had races, obstacle courses, and lots of prizes.

A simple gathering of a couple of my daughter's close friends was perfect for our two-year-old's birthday party. Nothing fancy or over-the-top, just some play-doh to smoosh and trikes to ride. They all had a great time. (And we actually had a Putumayo Kids cd playing as background music!)

We've had many house parties for our kids birthdays. Playing old fashioned games is the best! They play drop the clothes pins in the jar, pin the tail on the donkey, musical chairs, and sometimes we get a pinata. Everyone goes home with a prize.

We just threw my daughter a princess party. We turned our entire garage into a castle. We used huge boxes to paint towers and put princess faces in the windows. We bought a ballroom backdrop to cover the walls, hung silver and blue tablecloth covers from the ceiling, and got huge cutouts of the princesses. The girls decorated crowns with jewels, ate royal sandwiches and my mom made an amazing castle cake, complete with a moat, flags and even a frog prince!

Have been checking out CDs for the group since a previous giveaway and we love the music. Would love to add the set to our personal collection. When my youngest turned 5 last year, I planned a party at the park - weather in Mesa was great for March - a host of 5 yr olds - good food - simply/frugal games -wear them out and let them go home to nap!! Fun for all. You can't miss with water balloons!!
