Kids World Party

Read on for a chance to win a 14-CD set from Putumayo’s Kids Playground series along with Kids World Party. Dan Storper is the CEO and Founder of Putumayo World Music. Kids World Party, a global medley of fun tunes from Trinidad to South Africa, launches the new Kids Party music series for Putumayo. Like the acclaimed Playground and Dreamland collections, Kids Party is sure to please adults too! With the release of World Playground in 1999, Putumayo Kids established its children’s music collections as passports to learning about the world’s cultures. Kids World Party marks a return to these global roots with 12 fun, danceable songs accompanied by a multilingual (English, Spanish, French, German), child-friendly booklet that explores how children worldwide celebrate special occasions. The CD comes enclosed in a new eco-friendly package without a plastic tray. Kids World Party also marks the start of a very special relationship with Amnesty International, in commemoration of the Noble Peace Prize-winning organization’s 50th anniversary, and continues a long Putumayo tradition of tying music and humanitarian work together in a seamless fashion. Fifty cents from the sale of each Kids World Party CD will go to Amnesty in support of their work to promote and protect human rights worldwide. A sampling of the artists featured on Kids World Party include famed Indian pop and Bollywood singer Lucky Ali, who contributes “Kitni Haseen Zindagi,” a song that celebrates life. South Africa’s Sharon Katz and The Peace Train, whom Nelson Mandela appointed as a Cultural Ambassador of the nation, has thrilled international audiences with the beats and harmonies of their music, and delights listeners with “Sanalwami.” The infectious “Afro-Cuban Funk” of Cuban-American band PALO! is heard on their song “Quimbombó” — the Spanish word for okra, a type of vegetable used to make stews in Louisiana, Cuba and Africa. Watch and hear a sample in this music video. Also featured on Kids World Party is bilingual (English-French) singer Will Stroet, an award-winning Canadian musician whose song “Le boogie à vélo” tells children that you can boogie even while riding a bike safely. U.S. musicians Tom Freund and Friends performs the participatory song “Freezedance” and fellow American Eric Bibb rounds out the collection with Jackie Wilson’s classic soul tune “Higher and Higher.” We think this CD is going to be the hit of your next kids’ party. In that light, what’s the best kids’ party you ever created or attended? Leave a comment below by July 26th for a chance to win a 14-CD collection from Putumayo Kids Playground series plus the newly released Kids World Party. That’s a lot of music! One comment will be selected randomly to win. Good luck!

Small, home-based games parties with just a few friends and any kind of non plastic, non-candy goodie bags. Love to give out books!

We threw a great Halloween birthday party for my daughter. We had hay rides, apple bobbing, pumpkin decorating and pumpkin seed roasting. There were lots of goodies but the fresh "haystack" veggies with dip were the hit of the party (because they were so cute tied up with raffia). The spooky music was a perfect pairing and we all had an absolute blast welcoming autumn to our lives!

One of our favorite parties was when I made a Buzz cake from Cyberchase (the PBS show). We had a great time celebrating.

I threw my daughter a Harry Potter party...made an enchanted ceiling, had a zillion of those battery powered candles on the table and then converted the living room into the Gryffindor common room. We had a Forbidden Forest scavenger hunt and mother nature provided more than enough fog and ambiance. Girls went to sleep with a fire blazing in the fireplace and all the candles on the mantel. It was magical! LOVE Putumayo...have many of them but only one kids one...need more!!

Music is the universal language in which we are all fluent. It enables us to speak in one voice, like the sweet sound of children's laughter.

My daughter's 5th birthday party last year at the Little Gym was a lot of fun. We had lively upbeat music, lots of fun games and activities, and even the adults wanted to play on the bars, etc. Later all the children lined up and pretended to be a train. They moved the train by saying my daughter's name and the word "go..go" repeatedly. At night, our favorite lullaby CD is the Putumay Dreamland CD. My daughters falls asleep soundly every time she hears the CD.

My favorite birthday parties have been my older son's robot themed 3rd birthday and my younger son's Chicka Chicka Boom Boom alphabet party when he turned two. We love Putumayo CDs! We were just dancing to Picnic Playground tonight.

I've been a preschool teacher for twenty years. I always try to expose young children to a variety of music styles. What a wonderful opportunity to add to my collection.

The best kids' parties we ever created were all the years we resisted the urge to pay for an expensive outing, and invited a big group of kids to play games in the yard. We played kickball, dodgeball, and water balloons in the driveway and took a break for a scavenger hunt around the neighborhood. We ended with a long line of kids banging on a pinata, and then brought out the homemade cupcakes and store-bought popsicles. They always loved it. Simple is best!

I think children who like to dance would like to hear music and dance to music of different cultures. This album sounds like great fun.

My daughter's 5th birthday party is so far one of my all-time favorites. A local farm park was hosting a big anniversary party in December with bonfires, s'mores, hayrides, demonstrations of 1880s farm life, storytelling, etc.. It's so hard to plan a December party, but this was a blast b/c the park authority had already planned a big event, so we just invited her friends to join us there & we bought them the various food treats, hayrides, etc. It was super chilly, but we were not alone "enjoying" that--all the little girls brought their full families--big sibs & parents--and everyone was tightly bundled. The parents grumbled a bit about the weather, but the kids thought it was a fabulous experience--unique, fun, celebratory. Was my favorite b/c it was my least stressful, but was so loaded with activity--live animals and the rest, but so little expense on our part!

My kids love Putumayo music! The best kids' party? Our own! We make two cakes, invite a bunch of people, and have an open house with kids running through the yard all afternoon.

Actually the best kids party we ever had was when my son turned 6 and his birthday fell on a holiday. So we had grandparents over on the actual holiday birthday, and for the following 4 days we had playdates with 4 of his friends (one friend per day) so he had a tremendous amount of fun 5 days in a row!

It involved 5 little girls, all the old lacey gowns and party dresses with costume jewelry I owned and wax lips! The girls donned hats and attire to play ladies dress-up with heels. The photos were adorable. The inner tomboy came out after refreshments with cake; and they all jumped on the backyard trampoline.

When I used to own my little coffee shop (13 years ago), I used to play the Putumayo CDs for my customers (and my staff and I!) all of the time. There wasn't one of them that I didn't like. The reason I closed the shop eventually was because while I was running it, I had two more children (I was in my 40s and VERY surprised!) to add to the three that I already had. But playing the CDs at home all of the time brings me back to the happy time of being a small business owner. Now, with an almost 3-year-old granddaughter who LOVES all of my exotic music, I'd love to win this set and see how much she dances to the wonderful beats!
