Putumayo's "Women of Latin America" and Poncho Sanchez "ULTIMATE Latin Dance Party." Music for dancing on the shore of Big Shag lake in the upper peninsula of Michigan.... oh yeah! Add to that some Lake Superior whitefish tacos, some roasted vegetable and black bean quesadilla's, fresh salsa and endamame guacamole with homemade tortilla chips..... does it get any better than this? Oh, and can't forget those margarita's!

In honor of the wonderful celebration of Cinco de Mayo, I will be playing traditional Mariachi music from the Mexican region of Jalisco. My friends will be joining the fiesta at my home to enjoy platters of organic nachos, burritos brimming with grain-fed beef and magaritas made with certified organic tequila! Besides a festive occasion to celebrate the proud history of Mexico, it will allow us to gather funds to help Mexican children who require medical care. Viva Mexico! Viva Cinco de Mayo!

We will listening primarily to Mexican with a bit of South American mixed in. Alejandro Fernandez, Vincente Fernandez,Linda Ronstadt (yep that is her heritage), Charla Vegas, Jose Jose. We usually put some tangoes to listen and dance to. One cd is very quiet as it is tango music in a caberet setting, perfect during dinner.

We'll be playing what we play every time we have Mexican food - Rodgrigo Y Gabriella (both CD's) and Buena Vista Social Club. We love Putumayo but only own the french CD's and a few of the "Playground" series. We'd love, love, love to add the new one to our Latin Music collection though.

Sadly, I won't be playing any Latin music at our Cinco de Mayo cookout, as I do not have any Latin CD's in my collection but would love some if chosen. Then we'll get the party started.
