Big Apple Boogaloo is hot! I'm practically dancing while typing this comment. I think I will play selections by Ry Cooder (his latin music collaborations, of course), David Byrne's funky hybrid explorations of latin music, Ruben Gonzalez, Afro-Cuban All Stars, Mario Bauza & more. Azucar!

Will be listening to the Beatles if I don't win Putumayo's Latin collection. Seriously, I love Latin music...I just don't have much, so I catch it on cable TV.

I will definitely play some Natalie Lafourcade, I love her style especially her song Amarte Duele. Of course I have to sing along to some Aventura :) and then some Cumbia Kings! And when speaking of latin music, you just can't leave out Shakira!

I will be playing Mariachi music from Mariachi Sol de Mexico with a sprinkling of Bebel Gilberto as the sun goes down for those romantic moments. I know she is Brazilian but still sizzling and hot for the sundown! Happy Cinco de Mayo, WF!

We have quite the ethnic mix in our family. We celebrate St. Patrick's Day, Bastille Day, 4th of July (of course!) and my favorite, Cinco de Mayo. We celebrate at work by bringing in a 'Taco Vendedora' for everyone to enjoy. We'll also celebrate with music by Lila Downs, Elefante, Laura Pausini, Juana Molina and for good measure, some of the songs from the Starbuck's 'Songs of the Siren'. It's a time for those of us at work to celebrate our common Mexican heritage......some of us further back than others.... a day to find common bonds and to discover new traditions.
