Rosemary. It goes on the Tofurkey for the vegetarians in our family and also on the bird. They taste great on potatoes, in soups and on pasta. It wouldn't be Thanksgiving without the aroma of rosemary lingering in the air of our home.

Low sodium chicken and vegetable broth. I use them for stuffing, gravy and to make leftover turkey into soup and casseroles.

For me its all about the spices, spices, spices!!! I love having stocked sage, thyme, rosemary and marjoram which are great on roasted meats. Then, its all about the baking! I tend to go through lots of wheat flour, vanilla, sugars and baking powder during the cold months. What better way to stay warm inside but to cook and nestle with my 5 year old daughter? :)

Sweet potatoes! From sweet potato fries and mashed sweet potatoes that we enjoy all season long, to the sweet potato casserole and sweet potato pie that we gobble up on Thanksgiving day, we simply could not do without sweet potatoes!

Thanksgiving would not be as tasty without fresh cranberries for the cranberry sauce and dried cranberries for the acorn squash and spinach salad.

Cranberries. I get them at Thanksgiving, then keep them in the freezer for use all year... but they still belong to Thanksgiving.

Candied Yams would be the one staple my family would not be without. It's been a tradition every Thanksgiving since our children were little and when we've eaten at someone else's house and there were no candied yams, they would say it wasn't Thanksgiving without them. I crush the yams in a baking dish and then add a little pure maple syrup and top with marshmallows from Whole Foods, because they don't have dye in them. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
