I have worked in several of our plants over the past 20 years. I still get catalogs from my former jobs, so I contact them to have them remove me from their mailings. This saves money for all of us, not to mention the trees needed to produce them! I also contact the companies that send me catalogs or offers at home that I have no interest in. Really cuts down on the junk mail!

I will be using cloth bags at the grocery store more often and recycling more, even when it takes extra work. I have to bring personal trash home from work to recycle them (because we have no recycling receptacles at work), but its worth the extra effort.

I bought a bunch of cheap bar towels and use them instead of paper towels. I always carry bags to the grocery store and Greenmarket.

MY resolution is to KEEP chastising my children for throwing in the trash any perfectly recyclable item that I would have put in the appropriate recycling bin.

I am spreading the word about how to recycled "odd" items such as plastic bottle caps, CFLs, batteries, etc. I have a YouTube video about this that I sent to all my friends on Earth Day. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RqMvkRblzfM (And I practice what I preach!) :)

I have expanded my gardens by installing a greenhouse, thus reducing my watering needs... and my need for pest control. We live on a small farm now, and everything is organic: from my free range chickens, my gardens, and our 15 beehives. Keeping bees in one location, with no stressful travel, keeps them healthier... and allows them to produce great honey... and adds to the longevity of the hives at the same time.

I resolve to turn off the lights when they are not necessary and to save water by taking shorter showers and running the dishwasher only when full.

I have two: to significantly cut down my use of paper towels and napkins by using cloth rags and napkins instead. Also: To make my own earth-friendly cleaning supplies.

Wow! I have read all the comments to this point and there are so many great new ideas to include in my daily routine, my shopping habits, and those businesses and organizaions that I support. I would encourage everyone to do this and support GREEN businesses and web sites. We are in a tough economy and if we can offer this kind of encouragement and awareness, surely this will be a message to those who depend on us as consumers. We care about our plant and to the future for which we are responsible. Hurt not the earth. Love our neighbor.

I recycle almost everything that comes into my home, down to tiny little wrappers. I always turn lights off when I am not in a room. I am working on reducing the size of my carbon footprint in other aspects such as driving less and not using appliances that are not necessary.

I'm going to put all my shopping bags in the trunk of my car so I actually have them with me when I go to the store. I"m also going to start composting and plant a vegetable and herb garden.

1. Divid gabage into recycle and nonrecycle. 2. Eat more organic food and minimum dinner-out. Bring lunch to office everyday. 3. Get energy-saving bulbs and replace them at home. Use washing cloth instead of paper towel or baby wipes to clean. 4. Use reusable bag for grocery shopping. 5. Stop using the plastic/paper cups. 6. Stop subscribing newspapars/megazines and read online. After reading books, donate them to school or library. 7. Prepare a presentation and have a enviroment education lecture with the boys in Boyscout meeting.

I have resolved to carry with me, in my back-pack, one grocery bag every day. Often I go to the Whole Foods on my way home after work, and I want to stop getting (wasting) a fresh paper bag each time... unless of course I am buying half the store!!

My Earth Day resolution is to educate 200 people about the environmental benefits of a plant-based diet since animal products, whether conventional, organic, free-range, pasture-raise, etc., are the biggest contributors to environmental problems and loss of natural habitat.

The one thing i can do to contribute to a greener Earth, is to leave the car at home and take the bus to Wholefoods (and other places) when i don't have much groceries to buy and can carry the small load that day. The bus is fueled by clean natural gas, and is a pleasant ride. i've in fact been practicing this for some months now, and it's actually an enjoyable experience. makes me feel like i'm on a tour. a pleasant tour. San Diego is lovely to look at. and there's a bus stop right by the Wholefoods i go to in La Jolla.
