My kids are doing much better in school now that we are taking the time to have breakfast together in the morning. So many kids eat on the run, or not at all and fade mid morning.

For me, my mood starts to improve long before eating. As soon as the house starts to fill with the aroma from cooking I notice the entire family starts migrating towards the kitchen, by the time we are ready to eat they are poking their fingers in the pot :)

Some days my kids come home from school and they are so spun out. They ask for candy for a quick fix, but if I get them to eat a solid snack, like soy butter and crackers I see the affect of leveling their moods.

Cooking, the process, is healing to me. I love having great food, and cooing with friends and family, this gives me a sense of peace and happiness which in turn helps with overall health.

We do a nice tradition in on our block. There are 4 families and we take turns twice a month- getting together at each others houses. The best part, the kids all help cook, which is both fun and funny... so the food isn't always the greatest, but the bonding is brilliant!
