Our Exceptional Turkeys

By Allison Burch, November 4, 2011  |  Meet the Blogger  |  More Posts by Allison Burch
Have you started thinking about your turkey for Thanksgiving? We have! Of course, it’s our job to make sure we think about turkeys all year long so when it comes down to the quintessential turkey holiday, you know you can depend on us for the best. In addition to all of the great holiday recipes and tips on our website, you can learn about the local turkey farmers and ranchers, so you'll know a little bit about the people behind your holiday dinner.  No matter where they come from, all of our turkeys are raised with these standards:
  • No antibiotics — ever
  • No supplemental growth hormones*
  • No animal byproducts in feed
How does that compare to your average supermarket turkey? Take a look: Pretty compelling, don’t you think? And if you wanto carve every tender, juicy morsel out of your turkey dollar, just take a look at our Bird for Every Budget chart to find the one that's right for you. To ensure you get just what you want, make sure to place your turkey order early because size, type and availability vary by location. You can order your ready-to-cook- turkey, as well as prepared holiday dishes, online or at the Holiday Table in our stores. Did you get your turkey from us last year? Let us know how it was!

@Damon We would be able to give you a general process for how the turkeys are brined at Whole Foods but since you need to know for allergy reasons, the best way to get the most accurate information regarding how your turkey will be brined is to reach out to you community's Whole Foods Market directly. This way a Team Member at your store can tell you EXACTLY how and the ingredients used in their specific process. There's so many tiny variations that can be made to a brining recipe that I wouldn't want to steer you wrong. The link below will help you identify your store's contact information. www.wholefoodsmarket.com/stores
