Hiball Sparkling Energy Drinks

At Whole Foods Market®, we love sharing good food and drink. Whether it’s a peak-of-the-season berry, a team member creation from our bakery, sausages made in house or a new grocery discovery, we love celebrating great flavors and products. But we don’t just want to tell you about it; we want you to enjoy it too. So today we’re kicking off the first of five summer giveaways between now and mid-August.

Thank you to everyone who entered! Congratulations to our winner Erin R. from Minnesota!

Looking for a low-calorie, low-sugar, conscientious alternative to conventional energy drinks? So were we. And we found it! This summer Hiball Energy is quenching our thirst and our quest with their Organic Cranberry Apple and Wild Berry Sparkling Energy Drinks.

What’s really cool is that they come in 16–ounce "cold activated" cans (more on that below), are 100 calories per can,  organic and made with fair trade sugar. Each drink contains a blend of juice, guarana, ginseng, caffeine and a just the minimum smidge of sugar for the perfect light sweetness.

Okay, so about this can…the new package features “cold activation” graphics using thermochromic ink. The bubbles on the can turn from white to blue when it’s reached the optimal temperature for drinking. (That’s 45 degrees Fahrenheit, FYI) Cool, right? If that doesn’t impress, the can contains an average of 68 percent recycled aluminum and is, of course, recyclable too. In addition to their refreshing drinks, we also appreciate Hiball’s story.

The company was founded by a husband and wife team, Todd Berardi and Alyssa Warnock. Alyssa is also the person responsible for their cool-looking graphics and packaging. When they first started the company Todd and Dan Craytor, the director of sales, sold Hiball out of the back of their cars throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.

Just a few years later, Whole Foods Market is proud to sell Hiball drinks in all our North American stores from the West Coast to the East Coast. All Hiball Energy products are currently made in Portland, Oregon, with all-natural, organic or fair trade ingredients a high priority. As they put it, the company is committed to, “offering the healthiest and most sustainable energy drinks for its consumers and the planet.”

In addition to their Organic Sparkling Energy Drinks, look for  Hiball Sparkling Energy Waters in Grapefruit, Wild Berry, Vanilla and Lemon Lime. They’re zero calorie, zero sugar and unsweetened. Who’s thirsty? Tell us what you would do with an extra energy boost this summer by Tuesday, June 26 and you could win a case of HiBall Organic Sparkling Energy Drink in either Cranberry Apple or Wild Berry.

The fine print: No purchase necessary. Promotion ends June 26, 2012, 11:59 PM CDT. Must be a legal resident of the US or Canada (except in Quebec, where it is void) age 18 or older to participate. Taxes on prize, if applicable, are the responsibility of the winner. Employees of Whole Foods Market, Inc., are not eligible. Void where prohibited.

HiBalls are my favorite, the water and the energy drink. Unfortunately my only outlet to purchase is almost 2 hours away. When I am fortunate enough to have some on hand they really "perk" up my day. I don't drink any other energy drinks, if I can't have a HiBall then it is nothing for me. The only way to make summer better is with a HiBall in hand!! With my case of HiBalls I could make the most of the extended days...working and playing!!

Celeste Kautz says …

I would plow through the huge amount of work I need to get my new home livable. I'm exhausted thinking about it.

I LOVE hi ball energy sparkling waters, I've been drinking the carbonated waters for years! My favorite flavor (which is hard to find around here) is the grapefruit. I'm dying to try the vanilla. I think it's a great alternative to those gross energy drinks such as redbull. A Hi ball and vodka please! :)

HiBall Organic Sparkling Energy Drink will give me the extra boost I need to start my workout I do everyday and maybe I won't be so tired at the end of the day dealing with my three loving kids.

With this high energy drink, my soul would rejoice in the fair trade sugar,, and my body would delight in the extra oomph needed to write 6th grade language arts curriculum this summer. Even more, I'd share with my two high school kids, and who knows what non-sloth teens could do for mankind (and their humble mom) with the energy boost! Stunning thought. Btw, which is better: drinking the elixir of life, or watching the ivory bubbles turn to blue? Tough call.

Wendy says …

My house would be organized and spotlessly clean. With a clean conscience and newly-found energy, I could take a vacation and upon return continue to relax instead of being plagued by household chores. Yippeee!

We are Grandparents and can always use some extra energy. Sounds like a yummy product for a hot Texas summer.

I bike to and from my local WFM in St Louis, and most summer days it's very hot with oppressive humidity. So a boost between legs of the trip would be a welcome relief

I don't like the heat, so it's hard to get motivated to go out and run &/or bike. I'd use the energy drink for that push that I need to get me moving! And to take with me on my rides :)

I could definitely use some extra energy this summer to revitalize my fitness program.

Schools Out For Summer! Carting, Chasing and working with the Grandchildren is a full time sport along with regular life. So a quick boost added to an already action filled day won't hurt. The day starts at 5 AM with my time to exercise then off to work, then p/u grandchildren for their camps or training runs, then dinner, then homework, the prepare for next days activities~

Heather says …

This drink sounds amazingly delicious as I don't normally ut energy drinks due to their terrible after tatse! My husband just retunrned from Afghanistan and right when we were getting to unpack all his bags downstairs, we got hit with the awful hailstorm last week in Colorado and it completely destroyed our roof and flooded our basement as well as did major hail damage to our truck!! I think these would be great helping me sort out everything for the insurance claim while dealing with my 1 and 7 year old and still trying to keep up with my huby :)

angela says …

i would use the extra boost to try keeping up with my two teenagers:)

Marlo Dewing says …

Using the "cold activated" thermochromic graphic cans, I would turn my own normally white "bubbles" to blue, for a summer icicle treat to share with my husband.

Annette Clark says …

Never had, but will be on the lookout for them! Keeping up with 5 kids takes A LOT of energy.

Nancy Therriault says …

Just what my whole family needs. My 19year old son works out at the gym, my 22 year old daughter runs half marathons and my husband and I exercise to stay healthy. We are trying very hard to be an organic consuming family and having a energy drink that is organic and help with our workout is the Bomb!!

Wayne says …

I'd keep gong all day, instead of crashing in the afternoon.

Judy says …

I need all the energy I can get - I have a 2 year-old who has endless energy!!

Nikolai says …

I would find that last boost of energy needed to plow through the rest of my master's degree (only two summer classes left!)

Sarah says …

Summer is here and for me, it means more volunteering in our community! With a full-time job, I still find time to volunteer 20 hours a week to two non-profits. My heart is full of giving without expectation, but my body could use a boost! Hiball is just what I need!

Rebecca says …

I'd get after the weeds before they take over!
