Hiball Sparkling Energy Drinks

By Elizabeth Smith, June 12, 2012  |  Meet the Blogger  |  More Posts by Elizabeth Smith

At Whole Foods Market®, we love sharing good food and drink. Whether it’s a peak-of-the-season berry, a team member creation from our bakery, sausages made in house or a new grocery discovery, we love celebrating great flavors and products. But we don’t just want to tell you about it; we want you to enjoy it too. So today we’re kicking off the first of five summer giveaways between now and mid-August.

Thank you to everyone who entered! Congratulations to our winner Erin R. from Minnesota!

Looking for a low-calorie, low-sugar, conscientious alternative to conventional energy drinks? So were we. And we found it! This summer Hiball Energy is quenching our thirst and our quest with their Organic Cranberry Apple and Wild Berry Sparkling Energy Drinks.

What’s really cool is that they come in 16–ounce "cold activated" cans (more on that below), are 100 calories per can,  organic and made with fair trade sugar. Each drink contains a blend of juice, guarana, ginseng, caffeine and a just the minimum smidge of sugar for the perfect light sweetness.

Okay, so about this can…the new package features “cold activation” graphics using thermochromic ink. The bubbles on the can turn from white to blue when it’s reached the optimal temperature for drinking. (That’s 45 degrees Fahrenheit, FYI) Cool, right? If that doesn’t impress, the can contains an average of 68 percent recycled aluminum and is, of course, recyclable too. In addition to their refreshing drinks, we also appreciate Hiball’s story.

The company was founded by a husband and wife team, Todd Berardi and Alyssa Warnock. Alyssa is also the person responsible for their cool-looking graphics and packaging. When they first started the company Todd and Dan Craytor, the director of sales, sold Hiball out of the back of their cars throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.

Just a few years later, Whole Foods Market is proud to sell Hiball drinks in all our North American stores from the West Coast to the East Coast. All Hiball Energy products are currently made in Portland, Oregon, with all-natural, organic or fair trade ingredients a high priority. As they put it, the company is committed to, “offering the healthiest and most sustainable energy drinks for its consumers and the planet.”

In addition to their Organic Sparkling Energy Drinks, look for  Hiball Sparkling Energy Waters in Grapefruit, Wild Berry, Vanilla and Lemon Lime. They’re zero calorie, zero sugar and unsweetened. Who’s thirsty? Tell us what you would do with an extra energy boost this summer by Tuesday, June 26 and you could win a case of HiBall Organic Sparkling Energy Drink in either Cranberry Apple or Wild Berry.

The fine print: No purchase necessary. Promotion ends June 26, 2012, 11:59 PM CDT. Must be a legal resident of the US or Canada (except in Quebec, where it is void) age 18 or older to participate. Taxes on prize, if applicable, are the responsibility of the winner. Employees of Whole Foods Market, Inc., are not eligible. Void where prohibited.

IF I HAD A CASE OF HI-BALL ENERGY I WOULD: 1:Drink a can or two... or three... 2:JUMP UP IN JOY and accomplish everything on my to-do list 3:I will then attempt to do something ridiculous... 4:The first thing that will come to mind is SCALING TREES! 5: I will stop at Whole Foods for some snackage and then... 6: DRIVE FROM SEATTLE, WA TO CALIFORNIA TO SCALE THE HIGHEST TREES IN AMERICA in the Redwood national forest 7: Feeling accomplished I will attempt to CANOE across the Pacific, walk a few thousand miles until I reach Nepal, from there I will SPRINT TO THE TOP OF MOUNT EVEREST! 8: I will stop to cool off with a refreshing Hi-Ball Energy drink and then... 9: END POVERTY 10: END HUNGER 11: STOP WAR 12: and... BE THE FIRST PERSON TO TRAVEL BEYOND OUR SOLAR SYSTEM!!! 13: I will look down at an empty case of Hi-Ball Energy and sigh as I cozy up with a cup of tea. 14: AND THEN I WILL RECYCLE THE CANS!

My husband is addicted to "Monster" drinks and I am forever after him to stop drinking them. I feel like he is going to have a stroke or a heart attack. The worst part is, he never has any more energy.I just happened upon your ad while shopping Whole foods online. I plan on picking some up my next trip there. What better way to be introduced to your product, if we win a case :)

Aluminum from aluminum cans often leach(sp?) into the drinks contained in them. Therefore health concsious people should check with their healthcare professionals before buying drinks packaged in aluminum.
