Hiball Sparkling Energy Drinks

At Whole Foods Market®, we love sharing good food and drink. Whether it’s a peak-of-the-season berry, a team member creation from our bakery, sausages made in house or a new grocery discovery, we love celebrating great flavors and products. But we don’t just want to tell you about it; we want you to enjoy it too. So today we’re kicking off the first of five summer giveaways between now and mid-August.

Thank you to everyone who entered! Congratulations to our winner Erin R. from Minnesota!

Looking for a low-calorie, low-sugar, conscientious alternative to conventional energy drinks? So were we. And we found it! This summer Hiball Energy is quenching our thirst and our quest with their Organic Cranberry Apple and Wild Berry Sparkling Energy Drinks.

What’s really cool is that they come in 16–ounce "cold activated" cans (more on that below), are 100 calories per can,  organic and made with fair trade sugar. Each drink contains a blend of juice, guarana, ginseng, caffeine and a just the minimum smidge of sugar for the perfect light sweetness.

Okay, so about this can…the new package features “cold activation” graphics using thermochromic ink. The bubbles on the can turn from white to blue when it’s reached the optimal temperature for drinking. (That’s 45 degrees Fahrenheit, FYI) Cool, right? If that doesn’t impress, the can contains an average of 68 percent recycled aluminum and is, of course, recyclable too. In addition to their refreshing drinks, we also appreciate Hiball’s story.

The company was founded by a husband and wife team, Todd Berardi and Alyssa Warnock. Alyssa is also the person responsible for their cool-looking graphics and packaging. When they first started the company Todd and Dan Craytor, the director of sales, sold Hiball out of the back of their cars throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.

Just a few years later, Whole Foods Market is proud to sell Hiball drinks in all our North American stores from the West Coast to the East Coast. All Hiball Energy products are currently made in Portland, Oregon, with all-natural, organic or fair trade ingredients a high priority. As they put it, the company is committed to, “offering the healthiest and most sustainable energy drinks for its consumers and the planet.”

In addition to their Organic Sparkling Energy Drinks, look for  Hiball Sparkling Energy Waters in Grapefruit, Wild Berry, Vanilla and Lemon Lime. They’re zero calorie, zero sugar and unsweetened. Who’s thirsty? Tell us what you would do with an extra energy boost this summer by Tuesday, June 26 and you could win a case of HiBall Organic Sparkling Energy Drink in either Cranberry Apple or Wild Berry.

The fine print: No purchase necessary. Promotion ends June 26, 2012, 11:59 PM CDT. Must be a legal resident of the US or Canada (except in Quebec, where it is void) age 18 or older to participate. Taxes on prize, if applicable, are the responsibility of the winner. Employees of Whole Foods Market, Inc., are not eligible. Void where prohibited.

Lots of energy needed to stage a home that we are trying to sale, keep up with my three children's summer wish list, 15,10, & 5 years old, and all the while, trying to be more fit/healthier this summer. With the help HiBall energy drink that sounds organically refreshing, it should be an eventful summer (in a productive and good way!). Would also like to leave some around for the people that walk through our house during the showings (instead of the plain pitcher of ice water).

Miko says …

This Summer, I am getting: my personal trainer's cert, my police defensive tactics instructor's cert, my shotgun cert, law enforcement class room instructor's cert, helping my husband and partners start a security, investigation company, all while working full time law enforcement and details on the side to help pay the bills. This will give me the energy to workout and that will help give me more energy too.

Sandy says …

I would use the extra energy to keep up with my 6 year old grandson when we go to play at the park. Also, the extra energy would let me get my work done easier.

Gail says …

My family and I walk around our neighborhood each night after dinner, picking up trash as we go. It would be great to have some hi-ball energy drinks to revive us. They sound good for the whole family. I like that they only are 100 calories, are natural and made in the USA!

Nancy says …

Hi. I love the idea of a tasty sparkling energy drink. Most others have a distinctly forgetable taste. So I will sit back, enjoy a refreshing Hiball or two, then jump in my car, drive for six hours, to give the rest of the case to my firefighting son. Oh, I will need one or two for the return home. In fact, this sounds so wonderful, I may just do it, contest or not!

Eva says …

With an extra energy boost, I'd have enough energy to keep up with my kids' sports, clean the house, cook, and finally get to my summer reading!

Scott says …

While not into energy drinks, generally, I have to say that I'll probably need a case or three to keep up with a new job and a house that needs painting.

Janelle says …

I would whoop my boyfriend's butt on the basketball court this summer if I was fueled with some HI Ball Energy, preferably WIld Berry. Then I'd mow the yard, weed the garden, plant some more sunflowers, go to the gym, clean the garage, wash the car, paint the house, ride some horses, swim across the lake, play volleyball, go sailing, walk the entire Freedom Trail in Boston, build a community center, repave the highways, clean up the parks, stop global warming, save the whales and then ... probably need another Hi Ball.

Allison says …

Raft the Poudre!

Justin Marino says …

I would finish painting my house sooner by being more energized to tackle the project.

Cecilia Dunbar Hernandez says …

Yes, what I would do with an extra energy boost is to clean our home more often and get all of our papers organized in the files and start throwing or giving away things that we no longer need. I have not tried these products yet but they look fantastic and yummy and would love to be a winner for sure I pray. Thank You very much. Cecilia CECE

I would hydrate & get a quick energy burst on the way to the gym early in the morning.

Alethea says …

I'm planning to write a book about my world travels. The traveling itself zapped a lot of my energy and I think a case of Hiball would help get past any writer's block!

Elizabeth says …

I would give the case of Hiball to my awesome husband who works 50+ hours a week to take care of me and our 3 kiddos! He recently joined me on my quest for a healthier and more socially conscious lifestyle and in doing so gave up Monster and Redbull energy drinks as well as non-Free Trade coffee. I know he would LOVE an organic energy drink; it would be a real treat for him!

Nancy says …

It would be pretty hard to keep up with Janelle but I would use the Hi Ball Energy drinks to keep me moving in the garden. Between the weeds and the no rain I have been "living" outside practically all day to keep up and run out of energy every hour. An energy drink would be divine!

Cassie says …

I'd get more done in my garden with time to spare to head to the beach!

Melissa English says …

I'd have more energy to walk my Dog and take care of garden. Also more energy in afternoons to get paper work done and not be sleepy.

I would be able to help kick start this Journey my hubby and I are on. Since his injury from Iraq he has gained 100 pounds and his health was declining. I also gained 20 pounds with him. We started this health journey together June 1st and have had so much fun learning new foods and shopping at whole foods. This would give us an extra boost and maybe we could finally keep up with our 2 kids who are 19/20.

Christy says …

I'd have more energy to hike longer on the AT...

Kevin Amundson says …

I quit drinking energy drinks because I couldn't find a low-calorie & low-sugar drink that I liked. I haven't heard of Hiball before so I'll have to give it a try.
