Summer Giveaway: Mountain Valley Spring and Sparkling Water

By Elizabeth Smith, June 26, 2012  |  Meet the Blogger  |  More Posts by Elizabeth Smith

At Whole Foods Market®, we love sharing good food and drink. Whether it’s a peak-of-the-season berry, a team member creation from our bakery, sausages made in house or a new grocery discovery, we love celebrating great flavors and products. But we don’t just want to tell you about it; we want you to enjoy it too. So, we’re doing a series of summer giveaways through mid-August.

Thank you to everyone who entered the giveaway. Congratulations to our winner Nan W. from California!

Sweet sodas, fruity smoothies and herbal ice teas seem to be an arm’s reach away during the summer, but sometimes nothing refreshes like water. That’s why we’re giving away a case of nature’s perfect thirst quencher. Read on to find out how to enter to win. Bottled at the spring in Hot Springs, Arkansas since 1871, Mountain Valley Spring Water is America's oldest continually operating bottled water company.

Today, they offer spring and sparkling water. This is no ordinary spring. Protected by approximately 2,000 acres of natural forest lands, the Mountain Valley spring is the deepest natural spring currently operating in the contiguous 48 states.

Geologists have determined that the water takes up to 3,500 years for the rain falling on Cedar Mountain to travel to the aquifer and return as Mountain Valley Spring Water. Yup, 3,500 years! So the natural filtering of this ancient water and the minerals it collects along the way likely make it different from many other options out there.

Maybe it’s the taste from the long filtering process or the depth of the spring or maybe it’s something else all together, but Mountain Valley Spring Water has collected quite a fan club including the White House, where 13 US Presidents have served it. It has also twice been named “Best Tasting Non-Carbonated Bottled Water in the World” at the Berkley Springs International Water Tasting Competition. (Is it just me or is there a joke about the judging panel going out for drinks after the competition somewhere here?)

Available in 1-liter recyclable glass bottles, Mountain Valley Spring Water is naturally sodium free and certified Kosher and Pareve for Passover by the Orthodox Union. Whether you’re enjoying it straight up, mixing the sparkling with your favorite juice or serving it to a President, Mountain Valley Spring Water and Sparkling Water are refreshing additions to summertime.

Why are you so thirsty this summer? Tell us in the comments below by Tuesday, July 9 and we’ll pick a winner at random to receive a case of Mountain Valley Spring Water or Sparkling Water (winner’s choice)!

The fine print: No purchase necessary. Promotion ends July 9, 2012, 11:59 PM CDT. Must be a legal resident of the US or Canada (except in Quebec, where it is void) age 18 or older to participate. Taxes on prize, if applicable, are the responsibility of the winner. Employees of Whole Foods Market, Inc., are not eligible. Void where prohibited.

We do not drink our local water(since they FREQUENTLY have water warning alerts - often WITHOUT telling us). This would go toward our efforts to aleviate this problem

The hot humid days of summer are best quenched with ice cold water. Yard and house work create the need for water replenishment.

It is getting pretty hot here - high 90's and will get to 100 before the end of the week. That makes working in my garden pretty tough. And I know I will get thirsty and will need to replace that water I lose, so I am sure I will go for the water! God's own provision!

I'm so thirsty because I haven't been able to find Mountain Valley water since I moved to Austin from Dallas. I'm so glad to know Whole Foods carries it. It is without a doubt the best tasting water on the planet.

My husband and I are very active and try not to let the heat beat us ... we walk our 2 Jindo dogs at least 2 miles in the morning, work our 10'x20' garden plot in our community garden most evenings and weekends and hike at least one weekend morning. With all that, we build up quite a thirst that needs quenching!

I am thirsty because: Up to 60% of the human body is water, the brain is composed of 70% water, and the lungs are nearly 90% water. Lean muscle tissue contains about 75% water by weight, as is the brain; body fat contains 10% water and bone has 22% water. About 83% of our blood is water, which helps digest our food, transport waste, and control body temperature. Each day humans must replace 2.4 litres of water, some through drinking and the rest taken by the body from the foods eaten.

Absolutely love sparkling water and all the minerals that go along with it. Since I have become pregnant, this is the ONLY water I drink. Also, you can make sparkling peach or raspberry drinks. They are so good. Thank you for the opportunity.
