CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR WINNER MARY FROM MADISON, WI. THANKS FOR ALL THE COMMENTS!
We love our producers, suppliers and vendors and we think most of them have some pretty interesting stories behind their products too. We’ll be sharing some of our favorites here in an ongoing series. Read on for a chance to win a $50 gift card.
Doug Beretta is a family man. He’s one of four generations in Beretta Family Organic Dairy, a supplier of organic milk for Wallaby Yogurt. The dairy is based on a ranch that was bought in 1948 by Beretta’s grandfather, where the pasture-raised cows graze today. According to Beretta, the advantages of pasture-raising their cows are many. “You’re able to utilize your own land for feed. Organic feed costs are starting to get very expensive so we’re able to use our land to produce as much of the feed as we can.” In addition to the nutritional value of feeding cows on the pasture, “being on grass instead of concrete is a lot easier on the feet and legs of cows,” says Beretta.
Wallaby’s founders were looking for family farms and pasture-based dairies with this type of commitment to their cows and their milk, so partnering with Beretta Family Organics made perfect sense.
What do you think about the changes that Beretta Family Organic Dairy made when they switched from conventional to organic processes? Watch the slideshow above and leave a comment with your answer by September 9th. One comment will be chosen at random to win a $50 gift card to our stores.

my boys eat the Wallaby vanilla yogurt EVERY morning for breakfast. One time I bought a different brand because it was on sale and they said "where is our Wallaby yogurt? it tastes better!"

I've been a fan of Wallaby for years, but one of the main reasons is you know where the ingredients are coming from. I have multiple food allergies, so I need to be able to trust the company and know that THEY know their suppliers and trust that they aren't putting any weird stuff in their milk or flavourings. Btw, best maple yoghurt EVER!!

Wallaby's mango lime nonfat yogurt is so good that I make a monthly drive 2 hours round trip to buy as many containers as I can find in the dairy case at the nearest Whole Foods. SO worth it. Wallaby's business ethic is exactly the kind of company I feel great about buying from. I only wish I could buy it closer to home to reduce my carbon footprint...though I do drive a hybrid. Small steps, right?

Going organic seems like a totally good thing for the beretta cows :) Their stress levels seem to have dissipated due to his reporting of their production levels compared with the feeding methods. Happy cows.

I've been a fan of Wallaby yogurt for years. So glad to have found a delicious yogurt without unnecessary ingredients. It was great to hear Doug Beretta say the cows became more "efficient" after changing over to organic. And the cows looked so healthy and happy. (If cows can actually look happy!)

I love wallaby yogurt it taste great but it's even more amazing to make a product that is kind to the earth. Thank you for making such a wonderful product and including organic farmers. Wish more companies would do the same. Even the cows are happy.....and if the cows are happy, then i'm happy too. =)

This sounds much better for the cows, and maybe it helps explain why I enjoy the taste of Wallaby so much more than conventional grocery brand yogurt. It's great to see how an organic dairy works.

I have been buying Wallaby Yogurt for at least 5, maybe even 8 years. Everytime I try a different brand (all organic!) I am very disappointed. I shop at a lot of different stores, so Wallaby is not always available where I am shopping at the moment I need yogurt. Recently I decided that I will not "settle" any longer. The other yogurts, all organic and all pricey, just do not measure up. Wallaby must be choosing their milk suppliers very well and must have great quality control in the manufacturing of the product. It always tastes the same and is very smooth and creamy (even the low fat and no fat products!). The others, competitors, are all "sharp" tasting and have a somewhat curdled appearance and texture. I really hate that curdled texture! Many of them also taste like gelatin has been added to make the yogurt thick. YUKK! I think the Berettas made a great decision to convert to organic production. It's better for them personally, better for the environment, and better for customers like me who will in the future be completely "faithful" to WALLABY! Thanks to the Berettas (they look like a lovely family I'd like to meet) and to Wallaby for making this wonderful product available to me and my family.

I think the switch was a great idea, Organic is always better and I'm aware that it can be more difficult to do so I'm sure it wasn't an easy choice but I'd much rather eat yogurt made with organic fed cows milk. Its much better for the body.

Wallaby is the best yogurt, and now I see why! Even my pickiest eater loves the Bartlett pear flavor. No funky artificial tastes.

It is the best yogurt I have encountered as yet. And when it comes to their organic practices, it sounds like "less is more" - more production, more earth & animal-friendly and more flavor.
