Wallaby Yogurt

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR WINNER MARY FROM MADISON, WI. THANKS FOR ALL THE COMMENTS! We love our producers, suppliers and vendors and we think most of them have some pretty interesting stories behind their products too. We’ll be sharing some of our favorites here in an ongoing series. Read on for a chance to win a $50 gift card. Doug Beretta is a family man. He’s one of four generations in Beretta Family Organic Dairy, a supplier of organic milk for Wallaby Yogurt. The dairy is based on a ranch that was bought in 1948 by Beretta’s grandfather, where the pasture-raised cows graze today. According to Beretta, the advantages of pasture-raising their cows are many. “You’re able to utilize your own land for feed. Organic feed costs are starting to get very expensive so we’re able to use our land to produce as much of the feed as we can.” In addition to the nutritional value of feeding cows on the pasture, “being on grass instead of concrete is a lot easier on the feet and legs of cows,” says Beretta. Wallaby’s founders were looking for family farms and pasture-based dairies with this type of commitment to their cows and their milk, so partnering with Beretta Family Organics made perfect sense. What do you think about the changes that Beretta Family Organic Dairy made when they switched from conventional to organic processes? Watch the slideshow above and leave a comment with your answer by September 9th. One comment will be chosen at random to win a $50 gift card to our stores. Click here to check out Wallaby’s products or visit our stores to taste them for yourself. We carry their full line of organic yogurt as well as their outstanding sour cream!

I applaud them for making the choice to do what is right against what is popular and cheaper. They are committed to a quality product using quality ingredients.

My daughter loves Wallaby yogurt. I drink kefir, but I don't think I've ever seen this from Wallaby. I would try it if I found it.

I'm a fan! I just admire the commitment to doing the 'right thing'. Now a days its so easy to do the fast, easty quick fix thing, I feel like wallaby yogurt is in it for the right reasons. What else can I say but, I love the product!!

Wallaby yogurt is our favorite because of its full flavor and texture. We are worried about BPA in the yogurt containers. Other companies assure customers of the quality of their plastic containers, and we continue buying these yogurts, despite the fact that Wallaby is soooooooooooo much tastier.

I would rather spend more on food produced by companies like this than some mega producer. Spend more, eat less, eat better. Can't wait to try it.

I think it's great they switched to organic. It's the healthiest way to go. Since they don't want to give the consumer something they wouldn't want for their family it lets you know it's a great product.

Plain & simple, going organic allows our body to function at its best. No longer needing to increase the amount of feed to the heifers and still getting the same amount of milk, that is the proof, organic is the way to go.

Everybody benefits here! The small farmers take pride in there farms and make a nice living producing a quality product that they are proud of and create jobs locally. The cows are treated humanly so they produce a better milk. And finally the customer should be grateful for a product that they can buy that is truly organic. We need to go back in time were people take more pride in what they produce and stop trying to make allot of money. Let's face it money can't buy you good health!

I appreciate the choice to work with local family farms. It is only by doing this that we will be able to sustainably support home-grown businesses.

I love the way the food industry is heading right now. Every supplier that goes organic is a step in the right direction. I only hope this isn't a fad that quickly fades away.

I am heading to the store now and will pick up some Wallaby yogurt. I appreciate Wallaby seeking out reputable farmers to join their family. To the Beretta family, thanks for caring about your animals and us!

I think it is great what the Beretta Family is doing, providing a viable, more sustainable alternative for those of us who think of eating as an ethical act. Plus, they are allowing cows to be cows by eating a diet that their stomachs are made for!

I love Wallaby Yogurt. I think my favorite would be the Down Under Berries & cream. So Delicious! This video makes me want to have a farm of my own. It makes me so happy knowing that they've changed to organic processes. Could you imagine how different wallaby would taste if it wasn't organic? I don't even want to begin to think about it.

Now I know why Wallaby tastes so good and different from other yogurts. It's so much more creamy. I like the way they care about the animals such as not having the cows stand on concret. That can hurt their bones and joints and muscles. And seeing them out in the pastures even makes it look so natural and healthy.
