What Would You Do with a Case of Peanut Butter?

By Paige Brady, March 5, 2010  |  Meet the Blogger  |  More Posts by Paige Brady
cookie_pbcc Congrats to Charlie G, our randomly selected winner for the case of peanut butter giveaway! Here's a confession: My brother ate nothing but peanut butter (on bread) for an entire year. He was a little kid and my mom obviously wasn't taking control of his diet! He wanted peanut butter and she let him have it. Of course there are all kinds of things wrong with that and, luckily, he's outgrown the obsession. He still loves peanut butter and (in moderation) there's everything right about that! So, what would you do with a case of peanut butter? Read on for a chance to win one! It doesn't matter how you like it-smooth, crunchy, unsweetened or no salt added-we've got you covered with our 365 Everyday Value® Organic Peanut Butter at $3.49 for 18oz. And guess what? Our March/April issue of The Whole Deal has a $1.00 off coupon. Print the online coupon or pick up the value guide with coupons in our stores. Now that's a tasty deal. Do you think that peanut butter is kind of all the same? We don't. In our experience, the peanuts that go into that jar make a big, flavorful difference, and organic makes even more of a difference. That's why we require the best-tasting organic peanuts for the peanut butter that wears our name. The organic Spanish peanuts used in our 365 Everyday Value Organic Peanut Butter are grown by several family farmers in West Texas, like the Bingham Family. Organic-PeanutCliff Bingham is a 4th generation farmer. His wife, five sons, six daughters, son-in-law and granddaughter - along with the grandparents - are involved in the family farming business. Bingham Family Vineyards and Farm not only grows peanuts, they grow wine grapes for Texas wineries and organic row crops like cotton, wheat, rye, black-eyed peas, blue corn, sesame and garbanzo beans. When they aren't farming, the Bingham family is big into playing music - many of the kids play multiple instruments and perform with the Lubbock Youth Symphony Orchestra. The family enjoys playing a variety of music including classical, country, gospel, fiddle and wedding songs! With all those active kids, I bet that family eats a lot of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. But aside from PB&J, there are many delicious, grown-up and fun, not-so-grown-up ways to eat peanut butter. Here are a few of our favorites: lettucewrapschilinoodlesApple Sandwiches with Granola and Peanut Butter Lettuce Wraps with Chile Peanut Noodles Gluten-Free Peanut Butter Cookies Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies Curry Coconut Peanut Sauce Peanutty Udon Noodle and Tofu Salad PB & J Pancakes So, how do you enjoy peanut butter? Let us know in the comments by March 12th (edit: extended to March 16th since you all LOVE peanut butter so much!) and you’ll be entered to win a case of 365 Everyday Value® Organic Peanut Butter! And, by the way, my brother is NOT eligible to win.

Peanut Butter has always been a favorite in our home. This week I created a peanut butter, apple and celery pizza with basil and crushed red pepper. Topped with fresh mozzarella cheese this new dish quickly became my daughter's new favorite. She commented on teh second day of peanut butter pizza, "I could eat this breakfast, lunch, or dinner." If I won a case of peanut butter I would host a PEANUT BUTTER PIZZA FEST.

I'd serve peanut butter apple-celery pizza and peanut butter red sauce pepperoni pizza. For a fun and meaningful activity, I'd auction off the other jars of peanut butter for $10 or $20 a jar (or perhaps more!). The money would then be donated to our local food and homeless shelter. If guests wanted to keep their peanut butter they could or they could send it along with the money to help feed our local homeless friends. Fun for all, thanks to 365 Everyday Value® Organic Peanut Butter!

In our family, peanut butter is a food group. We love it so much we say, "It's a Peterson thing; you wouldn't understand!" In childhood, my father taught me to eat my PB&J with a cold glass of chocolate milk, into which we would dip our PB&J sandwich before taking a yummy bite! He also taught us to smear PB deliciousness on top of hot pancakes before topping with syrup. My children continue these traditions. We also make PB-chocolate syrup-banana smoothies, PB cookies, PB & banana sandwiches, PB on homemade wholewheat bread toast, PB on crackers, celery/apples/carrots/pretzels dipped in PB, PB balls (the ones with powdered sugar), PB no-bake cookies, PB fudge, and on and on. We ALWAYS substitute PB for tahini since we prefer the PB flavor over tahini, and PB is a frequent ingredient in our marinades. Our dogs love PB straight from the jar, administered as a giant glob via an index finger to the roof of their mouths (added benefit is entertainment watching them "eat" the PB!). And, of course, there is no beating a delicious, natural PB spoonful topped with raisins and sunflower seeds! If we win a case, we would definitely share with my father - the patriarch of our PB family.

My daughter loves her peanut butter, since she was 2 years old she would sneak in the cabinet and eat it out of the jar(only peanut butter, no bread, no cracker). Til this day at the age of 24 we have to still hide it or we would never be able to enjoy it. Just tonight she's sitting in the kitchen with the spoon in the peanut butter jar and said to me "if someone offered me a million dollars or peanut butter only one or the other, she said with out a doubt it would be organic peanut butter". She is very health concious and her try love and treat is organic peanut butter.

My goodness! A whole case of peanut butter! Many things come to mind but the first few are in the following order: 1. Dance around the living room with my little boys whooting "peeeeaaanut... peanut butter... AND jelly!" We like to celebrate in our house and a whole case would be cause for celebration. 2. Get out a spoon and have a little taste- my oldest son spends most of his time making his own PB&J "testing" the peanut butter. 3. Get out the mixing bowl and my sister in laws recipe for peanut butter kisses. Nothing is better than a celebration with a treat! 4. Once the cookies were out of the oven and we had danced our sillies away, we would pack up some care packages and walk them to our favorite friends in the neighborhood. We like to celebrate, We like sweet treats but more than anything we love to share.

The list of ideas is endless in our family! I have a famous pb M & M cookie recipe, but have recently come across a new recipe for pb cookies with chocolate chunks, and surprisingly the 365 chunky works the best. As for my husband, it would be the classic pb and j, and for my 5 yo. daughter, it would be ants on a log, or a boat, or a canoe, or a raft. And for my 2 yo. daughter, it would be a big scoop on her plate so she could dip whatever she had on it that day...carrots, cukes, snap peas, crackers, or goldfish. As for my dad, it would definitely have to be chunky on Ritz, and for my mom, it would be in a smoothy with a banana and almond milk. And for my other brother, it would have to be on his BLT, and for me...if I have the time, it would definitely be a pb and banana sandwich, but usually it's just a big scoop right out of the jar!

Would you believe that I created a cartoon character who's whole being is devoted to eating as much Peanut butter as she can...she even has 30 different varieties that she keeps on hand - at one kind for every day of the month! She was inspired by the many PB & J's I enjoyed as a kid...and still do. My favorite PB treats? Ants on a Log and PB Pancakes --Yumm!

I would have to fight for a case of peanut butter in this pb-loving family of 6! It would certainly not last that long here- we love it on pb and banana sandwiches made with freshly milled wheat, spelt or kamut. We spread it on homemade tortillas with sliced apples or jelly, and we dip baby carrots and celery sticks in it. It's great in a morning smoothie with coconut milk, raw honey, berries, flaxseed, and a handful of sprouts or greens.

I like eating it best straight off my spoon. Sometimes I get a little fancy and spread some on a saltine, chased by a glass of cold milk. Mmmm...

OOOHHH, my husband is the peanut butter lover at least a jar a week. I love it, but he is the pb freak. He likes it on toasted rye bread with bread and butter pickles. When we were first married and found out about his love of this concoction, I started picking cucumbers at a local farm and making pickles for his sandwiches. A way to a mans heart is thru his stomach right??? Well, to date (6 years later) he has never, ever put one of my homemade pickles on his sandwich. I make them every year and run out from demand of family and friends who swear they are the best. So my plan is to if I win a case of peanut butter, it will be held hostage and can only be had if he eats just one rye bread, peanut butter and my homemade pickle sandwich. If not, I will use it to bake cookies for my son's entire preschool !! Thank you, Amy

I think peanut butter is a food staple. I think organic peanut butter tastes fresher, less salty, and it doesn't leave a slick spot on the roof of your mouth. If I won a case of organic peanut butter, I would share it with some people who need it.

Running a predominantly vegetarian house, peanut butter is a fantastic source of protien and essential fats for your hair and skin. Every week we pick up peanut butter from Whole Foods as you have a great selection of varieties... sugar free (great for my diabetic Dad's favorite cookies), salt free etc. and every type is organic!!! Smooth or crunchy, peanut butter is a wholesome snack on apples, spread on whole grain bread and it is fantastic in protein shakes and on top of oatmeal or chocolate chip cookies! If you are trying to cut back on sugar, peanut butter also is a fantastic icing substitute on homemade brownies, and adds an extra dimension of subtle flavor in banana bread when used instead of butter. What would I do with a case of peanut butter??? I guess when you are vegetarian or vegan the proper question would be: "what can't you do with peanut butter!". I would continue to add Whole Foods fantastic peanut butter to many snacks and meals, and, I would make peanut butter cookies for all my neighbours too!

It all started when I was pregnant years ago. Pickles?? Who needs 'em. I craved peanut butter. On crackers, ice cream, apples, straight out of the jar, you name it. My peanut butter baby is now a senior in college, and through 5 moves in 4 states, as soon as that peanut butter jar was in the kitchen cupboard, we were home. (I am thankful to have no food allergies, and as I praise the virtures of PB, I hope I am not being insensitive to those who do. I understand how devastating exposure can be, and I am sorry for those who can't enjoy peanut butter as so many of us do.) Best part: How it tastes. Second best part: Nutritionally perfect wiht fat, carbs and protein. Viva la peanut butter!

What would I do with a case of PB? The same things I always do! We actually have been buying 365 brand PB by the case for about 2 years, since the closest Whole Food Market is an hour away! My husband will eat it straight-up! Our list of indulgences include: PB&J sandwiches on whole wheat, peanut butter pancakes with homemade organic grape syrup, PB cookies, PB frosting on chocolate cake, PB&Banana smoothies, PB and yogurt with granola, "ants on a log" (PB on celery with craisins or raisins), sauce for vietnamese spring rolls, Toasted PB and marshmallows, PB on homemade bagels and the list goes on. We also use it for bird treats (stale bread coated with a thin layer of PB and dipped in bird seed).

Peanut butter is fast food at our house. My husband and I both work at home and save lots of time when we whip up a peanut butter sandwich for lunch--I like mine with a little shredded cabbage (for crunch). Even though we have 2 kids, a case would be a lot, and we don't have much storage space. However, my kids' school has a silent auction fundraiser coming up and donating a case of 365 Organic peanut butter would draw lots of attention and increase attendance (we advertise our auction in the local paper, through neighborhood email lists and in online papers as well as our PTO blog). Our school serves an economically diverse and multinational K-8 student population. Funds raised help finance field trip expenses for students who can't afford them and buys books, art supplies, microscopes, and technology tools for our teachers. Plus, our school district just announced a $3 million budget shortfall—every dollar we raise at the auction will help us get through the cutbacks next year.

I LOVE peanut butter! My very favorite way to eat it is in a sandwich called a PBT. My dad concocted this sandwich many years ago, and it has remained a family favorite. It is made with excellent chunky peanut butter, only the freshest, tastiest tomatoes(salt and pepper, please!) and a slather of mayonaise. Must add a tall glass of cold milk, and voila, the famous PBT! Thanks, Dad!

I love to take very firm bananas, carefully coat them with peanut butter and then dip them in melted dark chocolate - it has to be dark milk doesn't taste as good. Put them on waxed paper until chocolate set and then freeze them. A great snack that satisfies late afternoon hunger pains and is nutricous. I also like to melt peanut butter and dip french bread in it before dipping the bread in egg batter for french toast. Served with a little grape or raspberry on the side it is a fantastic breakfast.
