What Would You Do with a Case of Peanut Butter?

cookie_pbcc Congrats to Charlie G, our randomly selected winner for the case of peanut butter giveaway! Here's a confession: My brother ate nothing but peanut butter (on bread) for an entire year. He was a little kid and my mom obviously wasn't taking control of his diet! He wanted peanut butter and she let him have it. Of course there are all kinds of things wrong with that and, luckily, he's outgrown the obsession. He still loves peanut butter and (in moderation) there's everything right about that! So, what would you do with a case of peanut butter? Read on for a chance to win one! It doesn't matter how you like it-smooth, crunchy, unsweetened or no salt added-we've got you covered with our 365 Everyday Value® Organic Peanut Butter at $3.49 for 18oz. And guess what? Our March/April issue of The Whole Deal has a $1.00 off coupon. Print the online coupon or pick up the value guide with coupons in our stores. Now that's a tasty deal. Do you think that peanut butter is kind of all the same? We don't. In our experience, the peanuts that go into that jar make a big, flavorful difference, and organic makes even more of a difference. That's why we require the best-tasting organic peanuts for the peanut butter that wears our name. The organic Spanish peanuts used in our 365 Everyday Value Organic Peanut Butter are grown by several family farmers in West Texas, like the Bingham Family. Organic-PeanutCliff Bingham is a 4th generation farmer. His wife, five sons, six daughters, son-in-law and granddaughter - along with the grandparents - are involved in the family farming business. Bingham Family Vineyards and Farm not only grows peanuts, they grow wine grapes for Texas wineries and organic row crops like cotton, wheat, rye, black-eyed peas, blue corn, sesame and garbanzo beans. When they aren't farming, the Bingham family is big into playing music - many of the kids play multiple instruments and perform with the Lubbock Youth Symphony Orchestra. The family enjoys playing a variety of music including classical, country, gospel, fiddle and wedding songs! With all those active kids, I bet that family eats a lot of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. But aside from PB&J, there are many delicious, grown-up and fun, not-so-grown-up ways to eat peanut butter. Here are a few of our favorites: lettucewrapschilinoodlesApple Sandwiches with Granola and Peanut Butter Lettuce Wraps with Chile Peanut Noodles Gluten-Free Peanut Butter Cookies Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies Curry Coconut Peanut Sauce Peanutty Udon Noodle and Tofu Salad PB & J Pancakes So, how do you enjoy peanut butter? Let us know in the comments by March 12th (edit: extended to March 16th since you all LOVE peanut butter so much!) and you’ll be entered to win a case of 365 Everyday Value® Organic Peanut Butter! And, by the way, my brother is NOT eligible to win.

one of my favorite breakfasts come from Powerhouse Cafe in Winter Park, Florida. i always get their "powerhouse fuel." this wonderful breakfast sandwich consists of a pita lined with creamy peanut butter, filled with ripe bananas and strawberries, drizzled with smooth and sweet honey, and sprinkled with some crunchy granola. Mmmm, the flavors and textures are fabulous! the creamy peanut butter ties it all together!

With remodeling going on at our house right now, we are eating a lot of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, but we also like to make peanut butter cookies and peanut butter dog treats. I've tried putting peanut butter in smoothies for more protein, but the kids did not go for it.

I love peanut butter as part of sauce with soy sauce on noodles or broccoli.

Heather says …

I stir it into my oatmeal, with cinnamon, honey, and a sliced banana.

Susan says …

Oh, gracious...a whole year of peanut butter would make my son SO HAPPY! He's a peanut butter and jelly kid...every single day for lunch. We're military and before the son, we used to move a jar of peanut butter 1-2 times before buying more. Now...easily a jar a month!

Frank Carson says …

If I had a case of peanut butter, I'd open the first jar and have it on a slice of whole wheat bread. The next jar would be spread an a toasted croissant with strawberry preserves. The next jar would be eaten all by itself on a spoon. And on it would go. A case would go far, but likely quite fast.

I would throw an awesome PB&J Party!

Peanut butter rocks! I use it almost daily. Since Ive been watching my calories (I've lost 65 pounds over the last 9 months Diet & Cycling),I use it as a filler when I want a snack or I have extra calories to use up! I just grab a tablespoon (80cal+-) and eat it plain while watching a movie or tv. Its awesome! Its great for you too. Good protein and good for you fat! What more can you ask for? If Im not eating PB, Im eating a handful of peanuts.:) If I was to win a case, I'd use it in assisting my next 20 lb loss by eating it all! Probably make a few PB Cookies for the kids and family too :)

Peanut butter and jam cookies! I have a great recipe for peanut butter thumbprints that you fill with jam. Its a great version of the pbandj. With a case of peanut butter I would make a batch for all my friends. And I have to say - I think my boyfriend may be related to your brother... he loves the whole foods peanut butter so much that we have to buy a ton every week - its his first snack every morning and he usually ends the day with a bowl of peanut butter and some chocolate chips. A case would go a long way towards satisfying his peanut butter obsession!

What wouldn't I do with a case of PB? Homemade PB cups, gluten-free oatmeal PB cookies with chocolate chips, African peanut stew, Massamun Curry, PB granola bars, dairy-free PB ice cream with cocolate covered peanuts, spoon it into steel cut oats. The possibilities are nearly endless. A case of my favorite PB...wow - that would be some good eating!

deedee says …

what would you do with a case of peanut butter? answer: the same thing I always do -- eat it right out of the jar using a tablespoon, if nearby; otherwise, use my fingers to scoop it out. (a case or a jar would be eaten the same way).

Must say I love love love peanut butter! Here's a treat from my childhood - mom would make us sandwiches with a spread that included peanut butter, shredded carrots and raisins all mixed together with a teensy bit of mayo. When this was chilled and spread on the bread it kept us kids going 'til after sundown.

Eat it on bananas and most importantly with a spoon out of the jar.

My daughter is a very picky eater and underweight. The one thing she never says no to is peanut butter - she eats it by the spoonful like a popsicle! I don't let her eat it all day every day, but it helps give her the protein and fat she needs and being able to giver her 365 Organic would just be fantastic!

Hello Whole Foods! First, my whole family loves Whole Foods. It's become a regular event for my two teenagers to go together to Whole Foods on a shopping trip. They come home with fruit cups, cupcakes, salmon candy, teas, and whatever treasure they find. If I did find myself with a case of peanut butter, I would donate it to Animal House http://www.animalhousehelp.org/. We have volunteered there on and off for years. It's a wonderful place with dedicated staff. They use peanut butter to fill the Kongs (http://www.kongcompany.com/worlds_best.html) the dogs get when they turn in for the evening. It helps keep them occupied and the neighbors appreciate the quiet. Animal House can always use the peanut butter and even dogs can appreciate *real* peanut butter from Whole Foods!

Leyla Ozgur says …

For breakfast, I love to have a bowl of non-fat Fage with peanut butter and honey. It's the perfect combination and healthy too!

Tim says …

No, I don't think all peanut butters are the same! That's like comparing apples and oranges. The 365 Everyday Value Organic Peanut Butter is dog gone good and rises way up there above the other brands! We eat it on about everything under the sun and my wife even makes homemade dog treats with it. We make it a point to buy organic and local when possible and we support our proud state of Texas! Yehawwwwww

Sue Erlewine says …

I have 2 large dogs that chew on Kongs all day - for a treat, I fill the Kongs with peanut butter! They love it and the peanut butter disappears from my cupboard fast!! And I confess that the smell of peanut butter makes me fix myself a simple peanut butter and honey sandwich on whole wheat bread- nothing fancy here, just plain livin' with peanut butter!!

Becca says …

I eat peanut butter on (almost) any and everything. Right now I'm having peanut butter and banana on a whole wheat pita! I do, of course, go for apples, carrots, and bananas with peanut butter allll the time. PB makes life better. Always.

Cbing says …

I eat it straight out of the jar! I also love or on waffles or pancakes with butter and raspberry jam on top. I also like to microwave it so it's really soft and spreadable.

They say bread is the staff of life. I'm pretty sure that it's the peanut butter on the bread (preferrably gluten free from your bakery) that holds body and soul together. Today I am making the trek from Springfield, Ohio, to the Lane Ave., Columbus store, to purchase your fresh honey peanut butter. One container each for myself, my husband, my mother, and my sister. Peanut butter is one of the few edible pleasures I have in life. In my twelve years living with Crohn's disease, I have found that the simpler the food, the easier it is for me to digest. I eat a lot of eggs, I eat a lot of rice, and eat a TON of peanut butter. Peanut butter travels with me on assignment (I'm a photojournalist) and peanut butter persuades the dog to sit still for ear cleanings and toe nail clippings. Peanut butter is represented in at least six varieties in my kitchen, topping ice cream sundaes, sticking sandwiches together, or sometimes enjoyed by itself on a spoon. Peanut butter truly holds my life together. With a case of peanut butter, I would live my life!

Kelly says …

I would take a case of peanut butter to work with me. No one is allowed to bring peanut butter in the house, as my son is allergic, so I get my peanut butter fix at the office. First off, I would replace the communal jar of peanut butter in the break room that I raid on a regular basis and never replenish. Then I would make PB&J's for lunch every day, put PB in my oatmeal, snack on PB on apples and celery. Christmas Cheer is a year-round food distribution organization that is located near my office. I don't know how many jars of PB is in a case, but I would also buy a few loaves of bread and a case of jelly and share.

Eric says …

I love organic peanut butter in a chocolate protein shake. Also, it is a great snack to have a sliced Granny Smith apple with a side of peanut butter and honey. The kids love peanut butter and jelly waffle sandwiches for a quick breakfast. Another great snack for the kids is peanut butter on a rice cake, graham cracker or even just a spoon.

MK says …

Wow. A whole case? Well, aside from the obvious peanut butter sandwiches, I'd mix it up with some ramen noddles and broth. Nom nom nom. I love doing that!

Rebekah says …

On a mashed banana, topped with wheat germ or chocolate chips.... On an apple, of course,.... On a sandwich with wasabi miracle whip.... Or on a spoon (but only because it immediately soothes my itchy allergy throat- I swear!.... And I realize that only one, possibly two of these are actually healthy ;-)

Vicky Ables says …

I eat peanut butter by the spoonful when my sugar level is off. I am not a full blown diabetic but sometimes it gets off and my diet keeps it regulated.

Marie says …

I try enjoy peanut butter nearly every day...my day is incomplete without it. I love it on top of my oatmeal, on whole wheat english muffins with a banana. I also eat it straight out of the jar, on a spoon. I smear peanut butter on cookies...and brownies. It makes nearly everything better. I LOVE PEANUT BUTTER!

Lissa Brooks says …

I love peanut butter in all kinds of things, but I think my two most favorite are peanut butter cookies (I have a killer recipe) and peanut sauce for Sate. When I was a kid, I would eat it by the spoonful straight from the jar. Of course, I don't do that now... no, never.

Robin Milburn says …

My son didn't eat peanut butter exclusively but there was time as a toddler when he would carry around a bucket of peanut butter with a spoon inside. When ever the urge hit, he would plop down on the floor, open the bucket and get himself a spoonful. He called it, "peanut butter on a poon." When he got older he tried it on a variety of foods. The most unusual and probably his favorite was a bog old dollop on a chocolate fudgesicle. He's 31 now and more aware of how important it is to have variety in his diet. Peanut butter is still a favorite of his but now it's eaten in moderation.

Barbara Najafabadi says …

My grandson has autism and is on a gf/cf diet, which limits his food choices greatly. He loves pb and banana sandwiches on gf bread. He eats between 6 and 8 pb sandwiches a day. I am also gf and enjoy a treat of pb with apples or a batch of homeade gf cookies. Our family would be thrilled to receive a case of organic peanut butter.

Cheryl says …

I really just love peanut butter on warm toast. I like it partially melted.

Lissa Brooks says …

...and by the way, I posted it on Facebook, but forgot to here. If I had a case of peanut butter, I'd keep a jar (or two maybe) for myself and donate the rest to the Issaquah food bank. They're always in need of stuff like this.

Maria says …

Love peanut butter but, if I won a case, I would donate it to my church for The Peanut Butter Gang. It's a teen group that makes peanut butter sandwiches and distributes them to the hungry and poor. I love seeing young people get involved! Thank you!

DP_Turtle says …

I enjoy peanut butter straight up. Crunchy, straight from the jar, usually on the end of a table knife because I intend to slather it on celery or a piece of bread, but when I pull the knife out, the big glob of crunchy goodness is just sooooo tempting ... it hardly ever makes it to the intended accompaniment. Straight down the gullet!

Jamie says …

I go through a LOT of tubs of peanut butter. I buy it so frequently because I use it to make puppy treats. I make them then I take them over to my local City Pound. It feels nice to give something, and I know my dog likes them too. They are way healthier then store bought treats and I know right when they are made and how they are made.

Yolanda says …

Oh YUM! peanut butter smoothies! Asian peanut sauce on tofu & rice, chocolate-peanut butter cups, the list goes on. I think the winner should have a daily blog with their peanut butter experiences!

Stephanie says …

If I won a case of peanut butter I would eat it of course! Since I am dairy and gluten/wheat free I especially love to make chocolate chip peanut butter cookies!

Robin OSullivan says …

Peanut butter is my favorite food group! Seriously. With a case, I would make lots of peanut butter cookies; peanut butter & banana bread; peanut sauce for vermicelli noodles--and, of course, eat lots of it plain!

P. Crandall Polk says …

Spread it on a hot English muffin and watch it melt down into the nooks and crannies. Split a banana and spread peanut butter on one side, then replace the top and eat. A quick healthy snack. The ages old GORP that we used to take hiking and camping, line a baking sheet with wax paper, layer on chocolate, peanut butter, honey, granola, dried fruits. Stir carefully while heating in a slow oven. If too moist add more granola or Grapenuts. Let cool and cut into bars. Wrap in wax paper. May get very gooey on warm days. It makes a good balance for Asian sauces and stir fry.

Wow....I think I'm hyperventilating just thinking about the possibilities! I don't know how many jars are in a case, but I'm sure enough to include a couple in our food pantry donation, and share with our family. We go through jars of natural peanut butter so quickly in our house. It would be so amazing to have a case of the best pb to 'spread around'! My husband eats pb toast for breakfast, while I prefer pb&j on a toasted english muffin or whole grain waffle. My 10 year old takes a pb&j almost every day for lunch, and on crackers for snacks. I love to eat a little on the end of a spoon or with a slice of apple or banana for a quick boost throughout the day. Without a doubt, though, I love to bake with peanut butter most of all. My 4 children..32, 30, 21, and 10..,friends, family and co-workers love it most of all when I bake with peanut butter as well!! PB with chocolate in cookies, truffles, buckeyes, etc..is positively the food of the gods!! I can't think of another flavor combination I love more. Everyone should know how incredible homemade peanut butter cups are...or how much better s'mores are with a smear of pb under that chocolate...mmm...mmm...mmm! I promise not to be selfish. I would bake, bake, bake...and then share, share share!!!

I could make a lot of ice cream with a case of peanut butter. I made banana macadamia last night, but I bet banana peanut butter would be good, too. Banana chocolate. Banana rum. I'd even attempt PB&J ice cream using a friend's homemade jams.

My son Elijah seems to be like your brother! He doesnt always win this ongoin battle though! We put pnut butter on just about everything and in quite a few random things too. I personally have to have it in my smoothies =) we go through lota of pnut butter here!

Amber B says …

I love the PB and chocolate combo, especially around holidays because the cups are in different sizes that allow the PB filling to be bigger portions! I also love love LOVE the classic PB & J and toasted bread. And, there's nothing wrong with PB and apple slices.

Jen says …

PB is my go to for everything - a basic dip for apples and carrots (not a fan of celery). All my favorite things to bake have PB in them. Plus, there's the PB krispy treats. And the occasional PB treat for my dog!
