What's New: Clean for the Holidays

If you’re anything like me, on top of everything else, December means more housework. Why? Because we have guests visiting, we have parties to host, we’re baking up a storm, and on and on. Actually, I don’t mind it. I enjoy the whirlwind of activities, and it keeps me motivated to keep a clean house. Which is why I thought it would be timely to show off our new 365 Everyday Value® and Whole Foods Market™ cleaning products. And I mean show off…as in the ingredients. These cleaning products list all ingredients right on the bottle so you can make an informed purchasing decision. It’s also important to note the stuff that’s not in the bottle—no phosphates, no phthalates, no chlorine and no artificial fragrances. I really want to buy environmentally and health safe cleaning products and I have found a lot that I like, but a lot of them just don't work. I have had the hardest time trying to find a automatic dishwashing detergent that is both safe and does the job. Most of them don't work very well and I have gone through many different brands trying to find one that does. I tried the 365 citrus automatic dishwashing detergent this time hoping it would be the one and was very disappointed. I felt I should write because this one not only doesn't work, but might cause someone who is trying out environmentally safe products to decide they are not for them.  This detergent didn't clean my dishes at all. The glasses were cloudy, if there was the slightest bit of food on a dish it would still be there after we ran the dishwasher and worse the dishes had a powdery white film all over them. I practically had to wash many of my dishes after running them though the dishwasher and wipe off the powdery film left behind. My dishwasher now has a powder white film all over it that I was trying to scrub off of it this morning and I'm throwing away more than half the box of this detergent. I hoping that it didn't damage my dishwasher. Has anyone else had a similar experience with this detergent?

The dishwasher detergent leaves a serious residue. I hope this is improved because, generally, I like 365 products, what they *don't* contain, and their *relatively* affordable prices.

We had exactly the same experience with the 365 automatic dishwashing detergent as Tammy. Residue on everything, cloudy glasses, did not remove the food. We actually thought it was our dishwasher as it was old (and our landlord actually gave us a new dishwasher!) - but the same thing happened in our new dishwasher. We quickly changed to another detergent and everything returned to normal. We do like most 365 products, but definitely not this one.

The powder 365 automatic dishwasher detergent in citrus is the worst product I have used. Even when following the instructions it leaves the dishes with a thick white film that is very difficult to remove.

I tried the 365 dishwasher detergent with the same white powdery/filmy residue resulting. The box is also annoying since it squeaks like styrofoam everytime you need to open it. I have moderately hard water, and have been following the instructions to use very hot H2O and filling the dispenser. It seemed like a bargain, but I will be switching back to Trader Joe's Brand, it's still affordable and Eco-Friendly, and actually works!

I live in Chicago which has hard water. I changed to Whole Foods Dishwasher detergent and within one washing I had white film on my glasses and there was food particles stuck to the glasses. I did not have this problem with either BioKleen or Method Dishwasher detergent. I hope they fix this problem. Who wants to use dishwasher detergent that makes their dishes look like crap? Not me!

@Caroly I'm sorry for your frustrating experience. That does not sound like fun. I've send your concern over to the customer questions and someone should be in contact with you before too long. I wish I had read all these comments before purchasing my box of 365 Automatic Dishwashing powder. I've had same problem: cloudy dishes, and not so clean. Something that might help some of you: run the disposal AND the hot water before starting the dishwasher. That did solve some of our problems but still with the cloudy dishes. Sigh. Will Whole Foods take back the rest of the box and return my money?

The Whole Foods store brand 365 Automatic Dishwasher Detergent is the ABOSLUTE WORST dishwasher detergent I have ever used! I am VERY DISAPPOINTED w/ Whole Foods for selling such a horrible product. It leaves a thick film of white residue all over everything, no matter what kind of rinse agent I use. I will go back to SEVENTH GENERATION detergent, which works great.
