Whole Body and Vitamin Angels

By Chris Jensen, November 11, 2010  |  Meet the Blogger  |  More Posts by Chris Jensen
Join one of our very own Whole Body team members for an insightful interview about the positive impact of Vitamin Angels not only on children’s health, but also in the hearts of our team members, customers and supplier partners. Susan Oelker is the Southwest Regional Supplement Buyer and has worked for Whole Foods Market for 14 years, where her passion for the best supplements and body care products is matched only by her enthusiasm for supporting suppliers who give back to the global community. Your next vitamin purchase can make a difference for under-nourished children. Find out how and tell us what you think. We'll donate $1 to Vitamin Angels for each of the first 5,000 comments posted on one of our Vitamin Angels blog posts by November 30, 2010.

Learn more about Vitamin Angels in our previous Viva Vitamin Angels podcast. Podcast Notes: Expert: Susan Oelker Whole Foods Market team member, Susan Oelker was introduced to the work of Vitamin Angels 4 years ago:
  • Vitamin Angels provides team members with an easy way to help others and fulfill their desire to create positive change through their work at Whole Foods Market.
The Vitamin Angels and Whole Foods Market partnership is special to all stakeholders:
  • Finding a way to impact malnourishment can sometimes seem overwhelming, but when team members connect that all they have to do is show guests products on our shelves that donate to Vitamin Angels, it is really impactful to that team member and customer.
  • Not only is it a great product for the guest, it also doesn’t cost them anything additional to help these children.
Whole Body has a unique opportunity to directly impact the lives of children, customers and team members through its relationship with Vitamin Angels:
  • Whole Body carries the best supplements available and it’s these same nutrients that customers buy for themselves that Vitamin Angels is delivering to children in need.
  • The dedication of Howard Schiffer and his team at Vitamin Angels to this global mission shows when they come out to educate team members about how we can all work together to reach these children.
Vitamin Angels gives everyone a way to make an impact:
  • Team members in Whole Body and throughout the store are given an opportunity to share with guests that even the most basic choice of which vitamin they choose that day can support a child in need.
  • It doesn’t cost any more money or any more time to make positive change happen.
  • Every day, team members and customers can do this and all they need is the awareness that they can make a difference.

More than anyone else, growing children need essential vitamins and nutrients for a healthful future. And when these don't come naturally from a well-balanced diet, they need supplements. Vitamin Angels provide children who would otherwise not have a healthful future get the necessary nutrients their growing bodies need. Thank you Whole Foods & Vitamin Angels!

What a fabulous cause! Vitamins are so much less expensive than treating the problems caused by the lack of vitamins. I only wish I knew about Vitamin Angels earlier.

This is a wonderful idea! Vitamins and other supplements do enhance wellbeing. This autumn I've been taking SAM-e for seasonal affective disorder. It works! Both my daughters and I are hooked!
