I always make sure to have canned beans around to make a quick bean salad tossed with a vinegarette. Also, we love chickpeas to make either hummus or roast and toss with Parmesan.

I always have brown rice, 365 chicken broth, walnuts, couscous, sunflower seeds, almond extract, olive oil, almond butter, and more in my pantry. With them I can make: - couscous salad with walnuts, green peas, carrots, red onion, and celery. - yogurt with almond butter and blueberries and honey. - brown rice with walnut. So all of your list above can be great addition or substitute to the items I have and use normally in my food preparation. The list also can give more ideas for my meals.

I'm a fan of the fresh fruits and veggies this time of the year. So a nice spinach and strawberry salad (a few slices almonds) with a balasmic dressing for a starter. Then a pan seared fish with a mango salsa, with a spicy black bean and quinoa side. Then for dessert a home made sorbet ... Since blueberries are pretty plentiful right now, a nice no suger added blueberry sorbet would be right on target.

In a large bowl, mix together the oats, wheat germ, flax seed meal, brown sugar, sunflower seeds, pecans, almonds, cinnamon and salt. In a separate bowl, whisk together the oil, honey, vanilla and water. Pour the wet ingredients over the dry, and mix until evenly blended. Spread in a greased 9x13 or 11x7 inch baking pan. Bake for 1 hour in the preheated oven, stirring every 20 minutes, or until toasted. Let cool completely before storing in an airtight container.
