Win a Care Package for Your Pet

Congratulations to JJ and Adrienne for winning their respective cat and dog each a fantastic care package! And thanks to all of you who submitted a response; you gave us lots of ideas for our own pampered pooches and crafty kitties. Does your dog or cat have a favorite treat? We want to know what it is! Carrots, apples, liverwurst…whatever it is, we want to hear about it. We’re giving away two care packages of healthy treats — one to a randomly selected dog owner and the other to a randomly selected cat owner — just enter your pet’s favorite healthy treat as a comment below by July 21st! What’s that…your pet’s favorites aren’t healthy? Well, we won’t disqualify you. Your pet may need the care package more than others! Tell us what treats they eat now, healthy or not. A little over a year ago, I got a puppy. The week before I picked him up, I researched training treats like crazy. I wanted to make sure he started his life off healthy (and obediently) with treats that were free of byproducts and artificial stuff. Once I got him home, I discovered that not only did he LOVE the treats I’d settled on, but he also LOVED frozen broccoli florets. Nothing beats a refreshing frozen broccoli floret on a hot summer day! What’s your pet’s favorite healthy treat? Enter your comment below by July 21 and you just might win a care package for your pet. Note: The winning pet care packages will be created with an array of these products.

oranges. Preferably Clementines. Sam (my almost 12 year old Golden Retriever) will sit and drool on my leg while I'm peeling the skin off. Then looks at me when I don't give him his fair share!

Sydney came from a shelter via Petfinder.org and Sheppy came from a vacant home (someone had left him) in Estero. Sheppy would eat anything eatable as he was malnourished. Both Sheppy and Sydney eat Newman’s Own Organic Dog Food with I bit of our Organic food as a treat now and then but at times a little more now than then…. Gee those sad eyes get ya…. They love Newman’s Own treats and bits of whatever we are eating as whatever mom is eating surely must be delicious, even salad go figure. A small bite of a Whole Foods Pizza is tops too!!

Strangely enough, our 12 year old tabby, Cinders, loves steamed green beans. We found out by accident, after dropping one on the floor... now we make sure she gets a few of her own whenever we cook them.

WE have a black lab named ruby she is so sweet she will eat anything and everything. Her favorites are a kind of cereal called puffins, hamburger meat(cooked), carrots, rustic bread(we don't give her it she just finds it when we're gone and go's to town),I love peanut butter and I give ruby the empty jar and she lick's it clean, and most of all ........CHIKEN! Plus she does like the little treats you give for protecting heartworms. I would really like to give her a box of healthy food to show how much we love her.

My dog probably eats healthier than me. But the funniest thing to see is Tyler eating apples. Its a hoot.

My cat friend, Usher, is finicky and changes his likes and dislikes readily. However, when fed by hand, by me, he will eat entirely all that I feed him. That includes Fancy Feast cat food which he has refused before, off and on, or anything else I bring to him. If it's from my handbag, he'll eat it if it's edible. He loves the extra attention of being hand-fed. I guess he just loves and trusts me. smile.

The only thing that I have ever offered Zoe our blond lab that she refused were pimento stuffed green olives although she loves brown olives. She loves veggies, raw or cooked and even enjoys corn on the cob which she will gnaw until she gets every kernel so she gets a lot of veggies besides her regular dry dog food and her treats which are given daily because they have vitamin added to them.

My dog Meisu loves anything with liver.

Fierce and fluffy, Babette (aka, the cat who walks on hind legs to show off) is a health freak. She refuses offers of ice cream & cheese preferring unencumbered proteins and grain free kibble. Her normal diet is dry food and receives the occasional salmon bits during summer grill fests. Her most recent foray into the healthy world was to gobble up arugula that flew off the counter to eye level.

Neither of my two Min Pins, Rex or Zelda, have a favorite. We rarely feed the pups people food, but Rex will GLADLY eat nearly anything you throw his way. Zelda isn't as interested in food, but she enjoys her Pedigree dental biscuits.

Aiko, our Shiba Inu, LOVES fresh baby carrots. He will take them and crunch on them anytime of the day. But if the carrot has lost its crunch factor, then he'll spit it out of his mouth and want nothing to do with it.

Natalie says …

My Cocker Spaniel Sheheber loves Kiwi fruit and cheedar cheese. :)

My dog Sam (a Min Pin) thinks he's a rabbit (his big ears look like rabbit ears), and loves eating baby carrots.

Our 2 1/2 year old Rottie loves everything,he does not discriminate anything when it comes to food...one treat which he will do almost anything for is left over swordfish or grilled salmon, when avaiable, but a quarter full jar of organic peanut butter from Whole Foods still rules!!! Argh Arghh

My dog loves to have his jingle bell stuffed! It's a big rubber chew toy with a hollow center that looks like a jingle bell and we stuff it with biscuits. Takes him about 15 minutes of hard chewing to get all of it out.

I got two puppies, a CHIDachs. I am now giving veggie treats to them. One gobbles up what I hand her a tidbit, the ohter discards and then changes mind to gobble it down too. It is such a joy to watch them interact.

Our dogs (two English Mastiff's & one foster mastiff) looooooooove cheese! They salivate at the sight or smell of it. Since they are so large, we have to give it to them quickly so there isn't a river beneath them. While they love other treats purchased or prepared for them, Cheese seems to be the one thing they are completely addicted to. When we prepare food in the kitchen they watch or listen for the sound of the package and trust me - they know what it sounds or smells like. They slip & slide all over the laminent floors when they hear the cheese, scrambling to be the first in line. They sit staring at you - watching every move you make until - yes, Mom or Dad finally pass out their pieces - ahhhhhh euphoria appears on their faces & they are in heaven!

noodle recipes says …

You are overcooking the noodles. If you put them in last and still happens, then put them in much later than usual. Or cook the noodles in a seperate pot, then just transfer the noodles to the chicken soup, when the soup is done cooking.

Our dachshund's favorite low-cal treat is the long center stalk of a romaine lettuce leaf. She does not like the green leafy part, but only the stalk. Fortunately, my husband likes the green leafy part but not the stalk. So it's a match! The dachshund at first carries around the stalk like a bone, but then eventually sits down and eats it. She absolutely loves this, comes running at the first scent/sound of romaine being prepared (which she can apparently smell/hear from quite a distance).

One thing I'd really like to touch upon is that weightloss routine fast can be achieved by the perfect diet and exercise. Ones size not simply affects appearance, but also the general quality of life. Self-esteem, http://www.pauliemilum.comdespression symptoms, health risks, and also physical ability are influenced in fat gain. It is possible to make everything right and at the same time having a gain. Should this happen, a problem may be the culprit. While excessive food but not enough exercising are usually to blame, common health concerns and widely used prescriptions might greatly increase size. Kudos for your post here.
