Win a Care Package for Your Pet

Congratulations to JJ and Adrienne for winning their respective cat and dog each a fantastic care package! And thanks to all of you who submitted a response; you gave us lots of ideas for our own pampered pooches and crafty kitties. Does your dog or cat have a favorite treat? We want to know what it is! Carrots, apples, liverwurst…whatever it is, we want to hear about it. We’re giving away two care packages of healthy treats — one to a randomly selected dog owner and the other to a randomly selected cat owner — just enter your pet’s favorite healthy treat as a comment below by July 21st! What’s that…your pet’s favorites aren’t healthy? Well, we won’t disqualify you. Your pet may need the care package more than others! Tell us what treats they eat now, healthy or not. A little over a year ago, I got a puppy. The week before I picked him up, I researched training treats like crazy. I wanted to make sure he started his life off healthy (and obediently) with treats that were free of byproducts and artificial stuff. Once I got him home, I discovered that not only did he LOVE the treats I’d settled on, but he also LOVED frozen broccoli florets. Nothing beats a refreshing frozen broccoli floret on a hot summer day! What’s your pet’s favorite healthy treat? Enter your comment below by July 21 and you just might win a care package for your pet. Note: The winning pet care packages will be created with an array of these products.

We haven't found a favorite treat for my cat yet, unless you count the kids flip flops, he loves those things.

Our 4 kitties, especially our older cat "Snoball" who is 15 this year- all love liverwurst! They'll do tricks for it. My 7 year old daughter taught our cat Ninja to jump through hoops for liverwurst. Whoever said one can't train cats, never tried it with that stuff!

My 5-week old Siberian Husky, Stoli, has recently been weaned onto Diamond Naturals puppy food. He already loves watermelon and organic mangos! Great for these hot summer days...

Kim U. says …

Our dogs love their veggies! When we snack on carrots or cucumber, they are right there asking for their fair share.

Diane Longaker says …

I have 4 cats and 1 dog who like the standard yummy things but my other dog, Timber, he is a mini eat-anything inhaler! He likes cantalope, and peas straight from the pod but his absolute favorite, which we have to keep locked up and secure, is CRAYONS!

Natalie Terry says …

My cats love tuna and salmon

Rebecca says …

My tabby cat LOVES cooked salmon, but not raw salmon as one of her favorite treats! She's also OBSESSED with eating rose leaves, but not roses (those are for smelling)!

Little Girl is a playful black kitty who just loves spinach! Every time I make a sandwitch or stir fry and get out the package of fresh spinach, she comes from anywhere in the house to sit at my feet and cry loudly for a piece. She's even been known to swat her brother, who is twice her size, for getting too close to her spinach leaf!

our cat loves fish.

Patti Peterson says …

Baylee our Beagle is on the chunky side and will eat everything in her path in one gulp. We have her on a diet and for her size the few pounds she lost make a huge difference. Besides her food she loves snacking on cucumbers and carrots. <3

Rachel H says …

My cat Oliver "Ollie", has quite a few favorite treats; the most unusual of which, is "Clifford Crunch" cereal.

Maureen says …

tuna!

Elizabeth Greenwalt says …

My big girl, Jasper, absolutely loves soybeans! I buy them frozen and keep a container full in the fridge. Every time I open the door, she puts her nose to the container on the door, then looks at me with those big doggy eyes as if to say "please mommy, just one more?!?!?"

MS Landerway says …

A treat for my dogs- 2 cups plain or vanilla low fat yogurt, 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter and 2 bananas- mix in blendeer or use an immersion blender- ladle into muffin tin- and freeze- that's why they are called Frosty Paws!

Erin Vilchez says …

Snicker and Bailey, my two crazy doxies, love getting green beans as a treat. That's their favorite, but they also like carrots alot. If they hear me crunching on one, they both come running!

Kristen Arnold says …

My chocolate lab, Bruschi loves any type of cheese. The stinkier the better

Lauren Christensen says …

My dog Josie LOVES her carrots :]

Emily says …

Our cat Henry loves cream cheese, and our other cat James is a big fan of melted vanilla frozen yogurt so at either breakfast or dessert you have to watch your plate. Dudley, our basset hound, will eat pretty much everything, but loves baby carrots. Especially wrapped in bacon.

Kim Brinkmeyer says …

My sweet lab Sahera went blind at a young age. Thus, she likes any treat that smells good. She is particularly fond of chicken and/or cheese.

Jennifer says …

Our 1 year old puppy loves it when I juice because we give her a bowl of the leftover fruit that get's mashed up. She sits there and waits drooling like it is a steak dinner! =)

Debbie Embler says …

Mal'akhi is a rescue Chow Chow, and inspite of having been out in the "wild" for 3-4 months, he is extremely particular when it comes to treats. He loves cheddar cheese, beef or cooked chicken. Any thing else and he won't even consider it. How did I get such a "foodie" for a pet? :)

Renee Redmond says …

My cat Venus's favorite treat is to lick the yogurt off of my lid when I'm having a cup of yogurt. She's not a very cuddly cat, but she loves dairy products, so it's a very cute bonding moment.

Lisa says …

My 90 lb yellow lab loves tomatoes that I've managed to grow. We call him the "tomato thief," because he always ends up finishing a walk by walking around outside with a huge, juicy red tomato in his mouth. He also loves kale chips that I bake. Basically, he doesn't discriminate. He loves ANYTHING that is edible!!

Cheri Miller says …

My doggy, Laguna Miller's favorite treat is pizza crust! Sometimes I find them hidden under my pillow! Thanks, Cheri

Christi Heady says …

Our two-year old lab/beagle mix, Keeper, will do just about anything for a piece of toasted sourdough bread!! No other bread is acceptable; he will turn up his nose at all other toast -- it must be sourdough! We're not sure how he acquired such a discerning palate when it comes to toast. He is a very good dog and eats more than his fair share of toast. Yum!

Kevin Waterman says …

Favorite treat? Heck, my Ginger will eat anything I give her--healthy things like carrots, peas, apples, to less so like pizza crust. But the funniest thing is she comes running whenever I go in the freezer for the ice! Her favorite, at least in the summer, may just be ice!

Elizabeth Ladd says …

My dog Ernie has a lot of favorites, but I think his VERY favorite is the leftover milk when someone eats a bowl of cereal and doesn't finish the whole bowl. My youngest daughter is probably his favorite eater by default. You can tell they have been eating together by the cereal bowl on the floor in the dining room...

Kris says …

My cat loves whatever I'm eating, but since that's not always good pet care, I keep bits of raw organic meat in the freezer to occupy him while I'm cooking!

Monique says …

My two Australian Shepherds are CRAZY about coconut. Coconut chips, coconut flakes, shredded coconut, coconut milk ice cream and even will eat coconut oil right off the spoon or melted and drizzled on their food.

Deanna says …

My dog, Griffin, loves broccoli too! When I make some for dinner for myself, I practically have to fight him for them!!!!

Karen Lee says …

My dog Fox loves carrots!

Amber Pembleton says …

My dogs LOVE all raw veggies that I drop on the floor as I am cooking. I love giving them mint off of my mint plant because it gives them fresh breath naturally! My cat, Nantucket, hates all veggies and leaves the peas, potatoes and carrots in her bowl... my husband lets her lick his finger after he dips it in his ice cream bowl - terrible, I know!

Laura Holzinger says …

My dog Jackson loves, loves, loves organic raw chicken, bones and all. Teeth are clean, breath is nice and his coat is beautiful.

Martha Fillion says …

My two cats love raw salmon and chicken! Even though they eat Stella and Chewy's raw, ground chicken every day, they're always right at my feet waiting for tasty bits when I'm preparing raw chicken or salmon. They also love CatsWell chicken jerky treats! I always try to give them tastes of raw fruits and veggies as I'm preparing foods. They live the life of luxury!

Betsy says …

Our cats love fish and chicken but one has been known to eat corn and avocado too!

Lynn Meade says …

Boo Bear (my cat) is usually pretty restrained when I'm eating unless it's ice cream. He not so subtly peers around my neck when I'm eating some Ben&Jerry's on the couch. I usually let him lick the bowl when I'm done.

Kelly says …

I have a 9 mo old shepard / husky puppy and her favorite treats are frozen popcicles made of yogurt, chopped carrots and tuna fish.

melanie lawson says …

We just rescued our loveable dog Bentley...He lites up my heart. We are just learning what bent likes but he loves cheese, we used that for him to take his medicine, and loves any treat with bacon... Don't really know what kind of treat is good for him...

Elle says …

Our canine baby's favorite treats are Brussels sprouts :)

Bryan Holmes says …

My Italian Greyhound, Kirby, loves when I make butternut squash risotto and loves to eat the raw squash. Its good for the tartar on his teeth and helps improve his breath! There isn't too much he doesn't like: but this was certainly a surprise.

Debbie Furrer says …

My cat LOVE, LOVE,LOVES the locally made Colby Jack cheese wrapped with a strip of Organic Baked Ham from the Deli @ WF, she will pester for it as soon as she hears the plastic deli bag, crazy like she KNOWS it's better, she will NOT eat it from another store,

Jan Pick says …

My little rescued feral orange tabby, Timmy, will go after anything he can get his paws on, so I have to be very careful not to leave any food sitting out, but his absolute passion is for your plain bagged popcorn (which I don't share willingly). He knows the sound of that particular bag being opened from the other end of the house and is there in a flash, not leaving my side until I put the bag away again, watching unblinkingly for a crumb to fall within reach.

Serena Daniels says …

My beagle, Ralph, goes wild for fresh slices of mango! :-)
