I plan on cutting out refined sugar and processed breads--otherwise I think I do a pretty good job of eating fresh fruits and vegetables and fish and lean protein.

My name is Mandie, I’m 24 years old and a Diabetic, plus a Vegetarian trying to become Vegan. Also, I’m going Gluten-Free/Casein-Free diet and sadly through depression, and insulin that I’ve had to take/had I’ve put on 185 pounds over my weight limit If I were to win one of these gift cards it would help me better control my Diabetes to where my blood sugars are stabilized, both my Endocrinologist and I would be happy to see a good A1C and superb blood sugars. An A1C provides a picture of average blood sugar control for the past 2 to 3 months. Also known as glycated hemoglobin or HbA1c. I’ve not had a good one in quite awhile no matter what I do. I’ve been a Diabetic for 11 years since I was 13 years old and it’s hard knowing what is proper amount of food to eat. Though I’m a type 1 Diabetic I struggle with weight issues and I know that Whole Foods is a way to help me better manage my health. Along with being a Diabetic I have food allergies, and so sometimes when I eat things with Gluten I get rather sick. I’m deathly allergic to Pine Nuts, and I have a small allergy to any type of nut. Where I live in Humble, Texas we do not have a Whole Foods grocery store, so there’s really not a grocery store where I can shop properly for my needs. My goals for 2011? Drop the weight, get my Diabetes in control, live a healthy and happy Vegetarian lifestyle. With your help I can succeed at this! When I reach my weight goal, you’ll be the first to have a picture with me, if you were to help me fulfill my goal of weighing 130 pounds, and having good blood sugars/A1C’s and allowing my Vegetarianism/Vegan activism continue. It would mean a lot to me if I were able to get one of these gift cards. It’s time to learn how to eat with an illness, with allergies, and into the healthier lifestyle. Sure, I’m on weight watchers, but this would be even more of a boost in confidence that I CAN do this program, that I CAN loose weight, and I CAN learn how to cook healthy/eat healthy/ and begin even more of a healthier lifestyle. Please help this come true to help me live my life with success.

Attempting to purchase and eat foods with low or no sodium at all. Also, preparing more meals from "scratch" and not relying on premade/ quick fix meals.

I am trying to cut out artificial sweeteners. I was able to finally give up regular pop but then moved to diet. The next move is to give that up too.

My goals are to continue w/the overhaul I made in 2010. I've already noticed a change in my energy levels, & have avoided anything more than a minor cold last year. This year I plan to stay strict to my Dirty Dozen, along w/organic meat & dairy. I'm trying out more recipes from Clean Food/Clean Start. Its really helped simplify my cupboards & reduced spending on groceries... which has been a MAJOR help since work has been really slow for me. We're also trying to get pregnant, so if that's not motivation for eating the best I possibly can, I don't know what is.

I am 33 and have been a vegetarian for about 15 years now. Although the perception in my geographic location is that vegetarian living is healthy (I live in the midwest), I know there are problems with this way of life, including the reliance upon processed, soy-based foods. I am lucky enough to have a husband willing to cook 3 nights a week, but on my nights to cook I am trying to incorporate fresh fruits, veggies and more beans/legumes into our diet. I have found that the recipes on your website are a great way to achieve this goal!

We would like to live a retirement life that is as long as our working life has been. Two big requirements to meet that goal are eating properly and taking the correct supplements. Whole Foods is an integral part of our plan!

It is a new day for me. I have made up my mind, after a recent visit to the ER with gastrointestinal issues, that I will take control of my health. I will no longer consume aaything that does not have a direct benefit to my health and well-being. I am very thankful for Whole Food's website. I just found it this weekend when the planning stage of my new way of life began. I am excited to have such an informative ally on this journey!

I have been doing animal rescue for years, so I cook for myself as well as my constantly changing family of animals. Many of the animals that I pick up are malnurished and sick. I cannot afford all the animal medicine and processed food so I bring them back to health the best I can by cooking wholesome food with grains, vegetables and herbs seasoned with meat scraps. The animals prefer a hot meal over the dry food. I need to take the time to cook for them more often by being well stocked with grains and broth and meat scraps (I grow some of my own vegetables and herbs)

My plan for 2011 is to grow more fruits and vegies in my yard, then to supplement with farmers market and Whole Foods. I plan to preserve and freeze more. By doing this I can control to some point how we eat and what chemicals we consume from from foods. I believe in eating as organic and fresh from the field as possible. I try to keep a well stocked pantry so I have the ability to prepare meals without having to run to the store: there by cutting costs also. I am trying to incorporate more gains and beans, less meat and white flour products in our meals. We are a healthy family and will continue to become more as time goes.......

We have been trying to reduce salt when we cook. We switched to sea salt and try to savor the natural flavor.
