I too am trying to eat more whole grains, try new grains, eat more veggies and beans, less carbs, cook more, and eat smaller portions. a pantry makeover would be awesome. mine is mostly full of non-food items. no wonder we go out to eat so much!

Lisa D, Yea, insurance won't cover it! So I'm wanting to go on the Dexcom CGMS. I'm on Symlin, but I don't see a difference :/

I'm trying to limit my sugar intake to 8 grams or less for everything I put into my body. I will drink at least 64 ounces of water per day and reward myself by eating healthy snacks rather than "treating" myself to unhealthy things. The "real" treat will then be a healthy and happy body and mind!

Eat more fish and veggies! Whole grains are a must! Drink more water! Workout a minimum of 4 days a week! I've even got my precious pup involved by giving her carrots when she is rewarded...turns out she LOVES carrots!

My one son does any fruits or vegetables. I don't seem to have the tough love to get him to eat them.

My plans for 2011 include learning to eat more healthly and to exercise more. I don't "exercise", I love walking and plan on increasing my walking, as I love being outside and feel so good when I'm done walking. As for eating, I love food; however need to learn to eat more of the good foods. Though I do find if I walk more, that my taste for foods differ, I don't crave things like potato chips, or "processed foods" as much as when I don't walk as much. I drink more water also when I walk more. I know it will take willpower and diligence to keep to my right eating schedule. I do already eat whole wheat bread, and love it, now have to incorporate more whole and raw foods. I'm not crazy about legumes, maybe fixed differently, I might learn to like them. I love fruit, and plan on eating more daily.

My father died of lung cancer a year and seven months ago. I quit smoking for good a year and five months ago. As a result I turned to food for comfort. I am a single mom and I know how important is it for me to be a good role model for my 12 year old son. Over the past year I've been making changes to our diet and lifestyle. We now walk around our neighborhood and go to the gym together. I try to follow his spirit toward exercise while modeling healthy eating habits for him. I take him shopping with me and let him choose his own organic breakfast foods and school snacks. We now examine & discuss nutritional labels. I traded sweet tea for water and green tea and he now drinks water and milk with only an occasional soda. I've started to expose us to new foods, like quinoa, rice crackers, and even starting making my own soups in our new Vitamix. I would love some help in transforming our pantry and ultimately our future!

Along with my elimination of sugar from morning coffee, I am going to try various alternative sweeteners. I have a small bottle of agave nectar, which I used recently to sweeten a batch of homemade baklava. Indistinguishable from white sugar, tastewise. Worked fine.

I know I've entered more then once. But I would really like to have the chance in wining one of these gift cards. I don't know if the winners have been announced, I know we're all hoping to win, and I congratulate those who did win. I wish I was one of them, I wish everyone a healthy start with the new year and that everyone's plan and goals are succeeded. For myself, wining one of these would be the best way to help me. I'm working with my doctor on how to better manage everything, but to be given a gift card it would be a fresh new start on life. Please help me succeed my goals.

this "contest" was supposed to end on January 31 and the winner notified in the first week of February. I have been looking to see a note that you have awarded it (or, if really lucky, an email to me based on my comment posted during the contest time). But, I still see people commenting here, and no notice of a winner. What is going on?

I have cystic acne and it has taken over my life. Ive tried everything from pills, topicals and diets. The best result ive had probably has to be when I went on an extremely healthy diet for 2 weeks. It got a little better says some family members but I didnt see any major changes. I wish I wouldve stuck with it longer. That was about 8 months ago. Just last week, I completely CLEARED my pantry of anything that consisted of sugar, starch, fat, oil, etc. I went to Whole Foods and bought items that are gluten free, soy products, no sugar, organic produce, flax products, and spelt. It wasnt cheap =/ But worth the possibly of calming down my acne and overall feeling good about whats going in my body =)

I just started eating healthy at 50 yrs., old. I was a junk food addict all of my life. I never had a weight problem and recently started packing on some pounds after eating lots of bad foods. After seeing a picture of me this past summer I did not like what I saw and decided it's never too late to start being healthy. I started eating fresh fruits and vegetables, different sources of protein, all whole wheat breads/products, low fat cheeses, etc. I cut out cakes, cookies, potato chips/dip, and many more foods that were no good for me. I drink about 6-8 bottles of H20 a day. After 2 months, my Cholesterol went from 200 down to 155 which is so good. (That was without excercise too.) I am loving eating healthy and would love to have a chance at winning the health pantry. There are still many things I need to learn on spices and other forms of healthy ways of eating and living.
