We spiff up all our favorite beverages with local fresh produce over the summer. Add fresh picked blueberries from Jones Farms to a tall glass of lemonade, or chunks of watermelon and sprigs of mint to sparkling water. Don't forget to garnish Bloody Marys at your next cookout with selections from your backyard garden like: sugar snap peas, swiss chard, cherry tomatoes & herbs. Any drink is enhanced with fresh fruit or veg!

Lemonade is delicious! I like it when it hasn't been sweetened. You just don't need any extra sugar at all, it is best just as it is. Drinks that have been over-sugared are just sickeningly sweet and actually make you more thirsty than before. For just plain and simple thirst quenching, I prefer cool, clear water!

Fresh squeezed lemons and spring water. We like it tart so we add a little simple syrup (sugar boiled in water). Served over ice in a tall glass with a sprig of mint.

Favorite drink for the kids...blend @ cup and a half of fruit (strawberry is great!) with @ 4 cups water, pour through sieve so it's just juice, add very small amount of agave or honey, and you've got a great juice drink. We love to add the juice of a lime when we make it w/ strawberries! The kids love it! Works with all kinds of fruits, too.

sparkling water with slices or lemon or lime. I also like to add some juice (orange or cranberry) to the sparkling water to give it a little extra flavor. Iced tea is also a favorite - I usually use a fruity tea and add some agave nectar to sweeten it up a little.

So, we have 2 favorite lemonades - one is store bought, organic Santa Cruz lemonade. I love the original, my husband and oldest son love the mango lemonade, and my daughter and other son love teh cherry lemonade. It doesn't matter what the flavor is, though, because we all love all of them. Then, the 2nd favorite is our homemade lemonade. We use brown sugar, fresh mint, and fresh lemons. Just 3 ingredients, but it is so yummy!!!!!

My favorite summer beverage is Strawberry Banana Smoothie. (perfect if you already stock up berry from April Strawberry Sale @ WholeFoods) Tools Needed: blender. Ingredients: handful of frozen strawberries; 1 banana; 1 cup ice; splash of orange juice; 2tsp of truvia natural sweetener. Put all ingredients into the blender then mix until smooth. (If you don't have a blender, then forgo the banana, add more orange juice and sparkling water, then mix it with a spoon ^v^) I hope you enjoy this drink as much as I have.

I love fresh lemonade with mint added! Crushed ice helps the lemonade and the mint get to the perfect drinkability! Have to have a snickerdoodle cookie with this as well! And of course thinly sliced lemons to decorate each glass....summer is finally here everyone after the long winter and spring we have endured. Time to drink up sunshine!

I came up with a strawberry lemonade green smoothie to make my husband happy while getting him to be healthier. 4 strawberries, juice from 1 lemon, small handful of spinach, agave or stevia to sweeten if you like. Mix in blender, adding water slowly until you reach desired thickness. Serve over ice and enjoy immediately. Its so tangy and refreshing! Hubby loves this and actually gets some green in his diet because he can't taste the spinach :)
