It's exciting when cherries are in season! Fresh cherries are just one of those special fruits we can't wait for! They are enticing to eat straight off the stem the moment they have been purchased! Not only are fresh cherries perfect for preserves, cobblers, pies and other wonderful goodies, but what child isn't delighted with a cherry on top of ice cream, or in a homemade "Shirley Temple" as a special treat? I just love cherries, the perfect snack and desert worth waiting for! Thanks to all who shared their stories and recipes! Have a great summer:)

My husband has been craving a cherry pie, but I have been having a hard time finding cherry pie fillings that do not contain high fructose corn syrup, so I would love to try making one from scratch!

My favorite way to use fresh cherries is to just eat them! They have such a short season that one has to appreciate them while they are here. Of course, one can use frozen cherries (or freeze them yourself), and they're good when the fresh ones aren't available.

I love cherries! Every year for my birthday (July 13th)I have chocolate cake with cherries in the cake and fresh cherry preserves in the middle with whipped cream frosting. Heaven!

cherries are a bulk carb, eat them and you will indeed feel full and satisfied. cherries give a pleasant taste and a quality feeling in the mouth. cherries - get them, pick them from the trees before the birds get them all. don't wait, eat them ripe and dark red or even the yellow ones and those with a pink tinge. enjoy and savor each one from the stem-buy those with stems on and avoid those with the stems off, they can be on their way to spoiling with the stems off.

While I do love a homemade cherry pie or cobbler, almost nothing beats fresh, juicy sweet cherries eaten raw ~ except perhaps chunks of fresh cherries stirred into vanilla Soy Delicious "ice cream" or homemade vanilla soy yogurt.

There isn't anything better to taste as Cherry Salad with broccoli all year long. To make it, toss 1 cup of broccoli heads with 1/2 cup of dried cherries. Then add 3/4 cup of sesame seeds and 1 tb. spoon of mayonnaise. Mix all ingredients in a large bowl and cool it for 20 min. For a beautiful presentation, serve it on a plate surrounded by fresh seedless cherries. Very tasty and healthy! Go cherries!

I love eating cherries just by themselves but also having cherry pie with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream would be a perfect cool summertime treat. My mother used to make a strudel and used sour cherries-it was absolutely delicious as it was sweetened with powdered sugar-however this was for special occasions only. But a big bowl of cherries just makes the day more sweeter and tastes great - now to enjoy them with my plain organic yogurt would be a pleasure for a lovely night time treat. Thank you.
