This may be hard to believe, but I just realized that I LOVE cherries just about 2 weeks ago! I remember getting those small, hard, chewy and weird-tasting cherries in my 7-Up as a kid, and always giving them away because I found them very disgusting. That's what I thought cherries were. It wasn't until receiving a carton of local, organic Bing cherries in my CSA box just 2 weeks ago that I fell madly in love with cherries. At least these specific Bing ones. I've been missing out all these years, but have full intention to make up for lost time.

I live in Virginia, and we had a cherry tree in our yard when I was growing up. There is no better way to eat cherries (in my humble opinion) than just eating the raw fruit. I love cherry pies, or cooked cherries over ice cream. But the fruit stands alone!
